Is anyone having any problems with fh? The money issue is stressing my fh out b/c he has to pay for the whole wedding b/c neither one of our parents can help and I work p/t b/c we have a daughter so I can't do too much and I find it causing fights and arguments between us. How can I stop the fighting about money?

Re: Fighting!!!
We are in pretty much the same boat! Except I don't even work part time! I'm home w/ our son all day! We fight constantly about the money! The worse part is I always think he is blaming me. (which he's not) it just stinks that everything is $$$$!! Just talk things out! That's the only advice I have! sorry I couldn't help more!

Re: Fighting!!!
Compromise, set a budget together and stick to it.
I've read that many fight the most during the year they are engaged....so don't worry about it.

Me too....Only I do work a full time and part time job. We have 4 weeks to go and so much more money to save so its a weekly fight on pay day about coming up with the money. It really ****s but I am sure we will do it

Re: Fighting!!!
It is hard to compromise, he would get married at the justice of the peace if it was up to him, I want a big wedding, so we are having a medium wedding but he doesn't think we need a videographer, or more than a couple pictures, he thinks the flowers are gonna die in a day and it is a waste of money. He does want all these things but b/c he is paying he doesn't think they are necessary. If it was p to me my wedding would cost 60 or 70 thousand.

I still have over a year! And we fight every weekend! He wants to go out, but we have to save as much money as we can, not spend it on beer! It is more me though, I am worried about the money issues. I don't think we can swing it, but hopefully we will!!!! But we have to go out on the weekend or else we will be hermits! and none of our friends will want to be in the wedding! And we both work FULL TIME! AHHHH! I want a raise!!!!
Good Luck to everyone!!!!

The only thing we fight over is money, too! I try and keep my stressing to myself, because I don't like to fight. I know we will have enough when the time comes, but the worry and stress is always there....

Re: Fighting!!!
EVERYONE FIGHTS WHEN THEY ARE PLANNING A WEDDING - I know it ****s but everyone who is married now says that you will have more fights when planning the wedding than ever before.
Maybe you can do something nice, like cook him his favorite dinner, maybe even get him a card saying how much you appreciate him and everthing he is doing for the wedding (they just want to feel appreciated when they are giving out money). Maybe give him a body massage (with cream) and do the feet - my FH calms right down after that. And if he asks why you are doing it say because you love him you want to do something for him to show how you appreciate him and what he is doing for the wedding (even though you are probably doing all of the planning).
GOOD LUCK AND DON'T WORRY - you are not the only one!!!

Re: Fighting!!!
Also, to try and save money, SHOP AROUND, and don't use the recommended vendors (except maybe the clergy), the price is always more because the have to pay a commission to the reception hall. I saved thousands on my photographer and flowers. I am getting married at the Crest Hollow also - what room are you in?

Re: Fighting!!!
I am in the plaza room, I priced out photographers and wound up with patken being the most resonable, I am booking with flowers by michele b/c I loved john and his work was great and his prices were less than ch's vendors, I am not sure about videography yet, or dj's, I have made so many appointments to shop around to save him money but then when I do he wants to keep saving on things like pictures that mean alot to me.

HEY, I'M IN THE PLAZA ROOM TOOOOO!!! I really liked that room the best. I found a great deal on photo and video and they do great work - it is also very important to me! For flowers, check out Burtons in Melville - they let you choose any flowers you want and they do a great job at an amazing price. I am getting the raised centerpieces and they were $85 per centerpiece. They quoted me a price of around $1400 for 11 high centerpieces (the lower ones are much less) my bouquet and a throw away one, 5 bridesmaids, 5 usher and groom, 2 mother's flowers and 2 father's flowers.

Re: Fighting!!!
You are not alone. My FH and I have been fighting a lot these days to regarding the wedding planning. You need to pick your battles and make compromises. Weddings are expensive and it's understandable that FH wants conserve. You should talk to FH and decide what's important to both of you and definitely set a budget. I, too, think you might want to check out Burton's for flowers - I found Flower Michelle to be a bit pricey.

Re: Fighting!!!
FH can be very generous when he wants to be but sometimes when it's not for him he can also be cheap. He doesn't think spending like $4000 on pictures is reasonable but to me I can't have an albu with 40 pictures, I almost think I should have been a photographer b/c pictures are so important to me and I love taking them, I can easily go away for a couple days and have 4 rolls of film so I can't go stingy on pictures and as far as the video I want a nice video, I don't want a cheaply made video by an ameateur just to save a few dollars. Basically we are alot alike we like the best of the best, but when he is paying for it for someone other than himself he doesn't go that way anymore. It is so frustrating sometimes b/c if we had help from our families he would want the same things as me but we aren't. Sorry had to vent!

Re: Fighting!!!
FH and I due argue about money. We both are paying for our wedding. It usually is me having to keep reminding him to put money away for the wedding...him getting angry about it and vis versa. It is the snowball effect. I get upset, because when it comes time for all the down payments on these vendors, I am affraid he will not have the money to back it. He gets mad at me always bugging him about saving We did set a budget though and agreed on that. My suggestion would be stay with in your means for the wedding and shop around for the best prices as well.

How do you stop the fighting already, my fh got really drunk last night, hit something with his car b/c the @%%hole drove it drunk and was so sick today pucking his brains up that we couldn't do our engagement portrait with our photographer and he is mad at me that I yelled at him. Am I wrong or is he just an @%%?

So sorry to hear that happened....Is you fh ok? If so, kick his A$$!!!!!!!!!!!
I would be beyond ****ed that he drove home drunk....think about what could have happened. Not just to him, but to anyone on the road with him....(sorry to go on, I just have a friend who died from a drunk driver)
Don't let him be mad at you...he is probably trying to distract you from what he did!!!!!!!
