My FH and I have had a long distance relationship for a while.... we have been dating for two years.. and have been trying to figure out the holidsays with the family. This year, before we get married, we split xmas eve and day. Eve we went to FH's house and dessert we went to my fam. My grandmother lives in a nursing home and needs solmeon to take her home. I offered, (as usual) and went over. FIL agreed that we would have dinner at 5:30;.. well, that didn't happen. We didn;t eat until 6:15-6:30 and I needed to leave at 7pm to take my grandma home... FIL didn't know this, but they knew we were going to dessert at my family's house. I was so annoyed, FH had to work today, is sick and took the ferry from CT. FIL NEVER called to tell us they were running late.... we showed up and WAITEDD... she never even aplogixed for no phone call, and didn;'t even thank me for the cookies i made and put on a platter.... WHAT IS UP WITH THAT?????
Need advice, this isn;t the first time she has done this. COuldnt thjink of a better place to ask for advice... thanks ladies, HAPPY HOLIDAY

Re: FIL-HELP
I'm sorry that your holday had to turn out like that. But you should be the bigger person and not create arguments with his family, especially so early in the game. You won't need to see them often, but the times that you do it'll at least go more or less smooth. What you can do is maybe get FH to bring it up. You can ask him if his mom liked your cookies, and if he doesn't know, you can point out that you put effort into it which wasn't appreciated. If the phone situation is what keeps repeating, you can ask him to talk to his family about it. If he brings up the lack of a phonecall he'll always be forgiven since he's the son.
