FIL VENT

I swear if I am going to have to run every single detail of my wedding by him I am going to really blow up. I am not allowed to but a deposit on a RH til he takes a look at it. I have to run dates by him since I was thinking about changing the date. Pretty soon I think I might just tell him then he can plan the whole damn thing....

Sorry just getting frustrated

I think it's nice to show him and share it with your in-laws to include them. We didn't book the hall or select a date until we brought both my parents and his to see the venue. It's an exciting moment, and I'm sure he doesn't want you wasting money in a place that something could go wrong. He might just want to make sure everything is good enough for you guys.

Good luck! Stay calm!

I have NO problem at all sharing any of it with them. I just feel like he is trying to make my decisions for me bc my FBI has made bad choices with his own life and now I am being 'supervised' on everything that I want to do.

I have been paying my own bills and making my own decisions for a very long time and have done quite well for myself so it is just a little frustrating.

Logically yes I know he is just trying to help but it is the way that he is going about it is getting to me, Or it could be the way that the FH is presenting it to me.

That sounds very difficult. I have enough trouble making sure FH gets a say in everything let alone anyone else. Hang in there, you have a ways to go yet!

I understand what you're going through. While FH means well, he tends to present things to me in a way that makes me feel like his mom isn't goin to be happy with anything wedding related. His sister is getting married this may, so we can't talk about our weddig until after that bc his mom might get overwhelmed. And his mom literally told me if his sister is pregnant when we get married she won't be able to fly here, so 'oh well, she won't make your wedding'. When I told FH how much it bothers me, he spoke to his mom and basically said that she's allowed to say whatever she wants.

Just stay cool and don't let it get you down. Be pleasant and explain to your FIL that while you appreciate his contribution and would love for him to be an active participant in your planning, you have a vision, and you know what you like and you're not going to compromise the vision. And just leave it at that.

I think people tend to run amuck sometimes - just take a deep breath and it will all be okay. Regardless of how much someone contributes, it really is all about you and your FH that day. Do what makes YOU happy - which I know is a lot easier said than done.

My FFIL is a little nuts. He has been pretty much begging me to include FBILs GF into my party. However I don't like her AT ALL. He knows that. FMIL knows that. FH knows that & feels the same way towards her lol. Some people just don't get it.

Re: FIL VENT

It sounds like he is just one of those people who like to be in control. It is very annoying! You don't want to give control to him but you don't want to be rude and tell him to back off. The best thing you could do is just keep thanking him for his input and advice but then do whatever you and FH want. I didn't show my hall to our parents before we booked because our parents are giving around what it sounds like he is giving you, much less then the whole cost of the wedding lol. However we did run dates by them.
