OMG Too Funny! Personally I usually feel like running away when my FILs come over. But they just show up unannouced so it's hard to have a game plan when there is no warning.

I can't drink on the job - I teach. BUT I can sniff glue. Hmmmm.

Truth be told I initiated the FIL's visit because it has been a while already and they havent seen the place. If it werent for his mom, knowing the previous tenant, then we wouldnt have this great apartment. They should see it. Its just that we still have a room full of stuff to unpack and we desperately need a good carpet cleaning and/or an area rug. I'd rather have as little as possible for anyone to criticize.

I dont think glue will help. Its non toxic. Try sniffing markers or white out. That will do the trick!

Actually, I have a better idea! Serve alcohol to the both of you and you can both be drunk. Funny story:

I love my FMIL, but she had such a hard time with her FMIL (FH's grandmother) from the very beginning and even now. She is usually not very pleasant to be around and is usually very unhappy. Well, we took grandma out for her birthday a couple of weekends ago and gave her some samples from all of our drinks (martini for me, margarita for FBIL, wine...)And we dropped her off afterwards and stayed to talk a bit, and it was the best and most interesting conversation we all had with her in years!!

I usually just drink a lot of wine ....and either 'dont ear things' or just say ...Yes oh ok ....bla bla bla and do what i want anyway~

I know what you mean, Leslie. If you don't invite them over then you'll hear about it and that'll be even worse!!! I'd just stick with a blunt object to the head, then you can say you have a headache and go lie down in another room.
