Unfortunatly we pretty much exhausted our options for people we want there and people we know. Our parents have already invited who they wanted to start with so that's pretty much it. I am totally all about asking the venue for add ons but we already have some great add on's (Bably Lamb Chops to be passed uring cocktail hour & Viennesse with the extra hour) and were given a good price. Would you guys still ask for more extras? We even got a free Baked Alaska thrown in because we had booked with 3 of their vendors which qualifies for a free chocolate fountain but we already had that in our Viennese package so he gave us a Baked Alaska. Should we still ask for more? It IS $2,000 out of our pocket for nothing of course but I feel weird asking for more... I hate talking money.
YES definitely still ask for more!! Whatever they have, take it because you don't wanna pay $2K for nothing. At least you'll get some product out of it. Ask them about exit stations, extra ice sculptures, fancy cocktail hour stations, extra choices for dinner entrees, etc. maybe ask them for an enhancement menu so you know what to ask for. Or If you know other brides who got married there, maybe they know. Where is your venue?

Final RSVP- NOT enough :/
I know you said you don't want people you don't know at your wedding, but you kind of know all of us. If you asked for seat fillers on here for your wedding, you'd get to pick who you want, people who have been kind to you, and we're all going through the same thing. Look how many girls commented on this post that they feel terrible for you. If you can't get the venue to throw in anything, I don't think asking for seat fillers on here is a bad idea. You'd at least have people you know support you! And you wouldn't be wasting all of that money.

Agreed! Even see if they will throw in a station at cocktail hour (mashed potato bar or something like that) I understand what your saying I always feel weird asking but if you have an email of someone there send it through an email. Just explain you have exhausted all options and it's making u sick wasting $2000. The worst thing that happens is they say they can't do anything.

You guys all have great ideas. I will need to re-read this Sunday when I go to the venue for final paymennt.. I told my mom I need her to act like she is paying for this and that she wants her money to pay for something because I'm just bad at this stuff. Thus re-reading it the day of to give me some courage.

It's my understanding that most places do give you stuff if your under the min so def don't be afraid to ask! Mine doesn't he simply told me no bc I'm doing an all inclusive package which saves me so much. I asked when booking .

I would count on them adding in vendors or kids to make up the difference, but you have to look at it like this - venues need to create certain amounts of revenue for certain times of the year (prime months, day of the week, etc). So, it's not their fault that you are under your minimum, and contractually, they don't 'owe' you anything. They are due a fair profit. If they offer to do something, that's great - but I personally wouldn't go looking for it.

I.disagree. I mean I understand what you're saying BUT when so many bridesnon here say that thier venues do it, it doesn't hurt to ask. And if they say no bc they will lose money then ok they said no. But there is no harm in asking. $2k isn't pennies!

I totally get that. I mean we are in contract that we will have at least 100 people. Which means they want X amount x 100 people. However, we already have extras that amount to about $2000 MORE than they would have gotten had we just done the simplest menu at 100 people. (This is not the $2k I am paying extra due to lack of guests- but $20 extra/pp in upgrades) So that's why I would hope that they can do something for me because they are already making $2000 OVER their minimum for that night, ya know

Agreed. If you don't ask, the answer is always no.

Got an ice sculpture thrown in and was told to make sure I tell the Maitre 'D to bag up all the extra dinners. It's fine. I'm happy. I won't have to cook for any of us the next 2 nights and I kinda wanted the ice sculpture. Not much else they could do. I don't want MORE food added on n they can't give me that $ back do I'm content. ;) Thank u guys for the push to ask!
