Lord help us, we nailed it!!! After much discussion and compromise, FH and I decided that if we were going to have a winter wedding to keep general costs down, that we would spend just a little more to have the Black Tie Optional Saturday night wedding that we both really wanted.
Initially he wanted an outside June wedding but I wanted to do a wedding around President's week because I am a teacher (who works summer school for the $$$)and didn't really want to take too much time off from work. I also suffer from severe allergies to pollen and I did not want to be sneezing down the aisle
So.....our date will be February 18, 2006. Once our contract is signed, I will let you all know where it is. I am too superstitious to say so until then. Should be by Thursday night.

Ok Hollie I have a question for you, how are you holding your breath for good weather on your winter wedding day? I get people asking me all the time WHY I want a winter wedding. They dont get it.

Yeah I am! But sometimes I think I want LIGHT snow or some snow on the ground! It is so beautiful. I posted pics of Fox Hollow with snow and thought it was STUNNING! I look at it this way... living in NY the weather is so unpredictable! It could be 50 degrees and sunny on my wedding day or really rainy. Look at the weather this past Sat! It was chilly and rainy!
No matter what happens, I am not going to get upset. Fox Hollow told me that if we have a blizzard, I have the option of having the wedding or moving it to the next available date at no extra charge! This relaxed me some!

I am very excited about decor for this. I have seen beautiful centerpieces that look like bare trees with either small lights or tealight candles. Though I have to make sure it doesnt look too Christmas-y. I am aiming for a feeling of an 'up-scale dinner party' It will be formal and I am not a young bride. As I get older I feel less is more. I want elegance not frills.

I love snow and would love to have a little for pictures and because i have a huge skylight in my reception room and if theres a little sprinkle of snow the skylight looks like its been covered in glitter - very pretty!!
Winter weather is unpredictable - my parents got married January 27th (a long time ago) and it was so warm they didnt even need coats - two days later it snowed!

Congratulations...winter weddings are beautiful...and I agree with you less is more...as far as what kind of look you are going for...people who over do it at all ends are just trying to show off and in the end no one really cares that went overboard with everything....

that is grea I am so happy for you I wanted to have a late fall or winter wedding as well at first we were going to have it the day after thanksgiving but my FI sister turns 21 and she is going to Vegas with FI dad and stepmom so that was out of the questions. Then I was thinking of around PResidents day as well but FI mother is pain in the butt she keeps saying what about snow what about people who have to travel and so on so she was annoying me so we decided on September

Congrats!! Everything sounds like it's falling into place these past couple of weeks. I love winter weddings, I wanted one myself but FH being from Florida said no way, half of our guests are coming up from FL and they'd freeze!

Yay for you! Feb weddings are the best. We had great weather and it was 60 degrees in the daytime. Can't wait to hear where!

I'm so happy for you....Congratulations!! Even though it may be cold outside, the winter months are beautiful...I was considering that myself....especially around Valentines Day...so sweet!! Can't wait to hear where it is!!
