FINALLY picked a reception site!!! so happy!!!

Well after a month and a half of crazy searching and trying to get everyone to agree on a place.....we wound up picking the one reception hall in my home town!!! It's pretty ironic I guess since it was just about the first place we checked out and I have been to a wedding there...Bayview House at Captain Bill's in Bay Shore. It's close by, we're the only Saturday wedding (Nov.) so we can start and end any time we want, the place is large enough so we aren't tied into a set number of guests, it's beautiful and elegant but casual and relaxed at the same time, etc. I'm SO excited to have a 'home' for our wedding, and now the fun can begin:) Luckily my FSIL is getting married a few months before us because she has done so much legwork already. Please tell me the rest is easier than picking the place???

congrats! picking the place is definitly hard - but once that is done, the hard work really begins. But it is more fun. Now that you have the place, you have the 'feel' for the type of wedding you are having and can work from there.

the rest of the planning is a roller coaster ride- it has it's ups and downs. Just try to enjoy the ride!!

Congrats! I wish I could say the rest is easier but it's really not! I've been working on a DJ for almost 2 months now (I'm driving myself insane!). Good luck and happy planning!

aww, thank you girls!!! I'm even more excited now:) What are your feelings on engagement parties? I don't want people to feel obligated to bring gifts...just a fun party atmosphere where we can celebrate and everyone can meet and get together. What are your thoughts?? ...thanks for all the positive feedback.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! It always feels like so much has been completed once the hall is picked - things fall into place after that!

Congrats!! You must be so relieved. I wish we had our place picked. I'm really starting to stress. It's so hard coordinating the church & hall. I hope we have something picked very soon.

My cousin got married there in the summer of 2002 - it was one of the best weddings I'd been to. The room was gorgeous and the food was fantastic! I had never been there before and was completely amazed when I walked into the reception room (or I should say, reception house)

Great choice!

Congrats. You might not believe me but that was owned by my great grandfather. His name was William and when he died the children(my grandma) did not want to run the place anymore so they sold it who knew. It is beautiful there I was actually going to have the reception there but decide not too.
