As of now my FH and I plan to have our ceremony at the same location as our reception but now we are considering a church. We are Christian and would like to get married at a church in LI. The problem is we live in NJ so we don't have a relationship with any churches in LI. How would we go about finding a beautiful church that would let us marry there without being members? Any suggestions?

I think St. John Nepomucene Church does not require you to be a parishoner to get married there. A friend of mine got married there a few years ago for that reason. I don't know how far it is from Jericho Terrace though.

Unfortunately, St. John's is in Bohemia, about a 40 minute drive.

I'm not familiar with churches in that area but some churches will marry you even if you're not a parishioner... It's a matter of finding out which ones.. hmmm

Re: Finding a Church
sorry - meant to mention, maybe you have family who lives in that area that can tell you of churches?
You can also google a directory of churches and start calling up the ones in that area to find out how strict they are about marrying non-parishioners - alot of churches also have websites now with pics of the church

Re: Finding a Church
Thanks, everyone! This is all really helpful. We currently go to a nondenominational Christian church so we are looking for a church that would welcome us and allow us to bring our own pastor in to perform the ceremony. Thanks again for all the tips! You guys are awesome. I welcome any additional suggestions.
