Re: fine china
I originally registered for it then I realized we will probably never use it, so I took it off. Theres a lot of gifts I would rather get than fine china.

Re: fine china
My mother purchased all of our place settings so we really had no choice. We just registered for serving pieces.
I think it's a waste since I'll probably use it once a year if that but she wasn't taking no for an answer lol

Re: fine china
I debated back and forth, not knowing if it would get used. My mom is passing her's on to me instead. I'd suggest registering for everyday tableware instead.

Re: fine china
Im registering for everyday tablewear as well. I would rather someone spend money on something I will actually get some use of.

I'm not. We'll never use it I don't think. My parents have china and I've never ever actually seen it!

Re: fine china
We are getting my grandmothers and i agree with others that we went for a better every day set which we will use then the fine china ALSO if you do get a hand-me-down china set there is a website http://www.replacements.com/index.htm which you could find spare pieces from if you wanted extra or were missing a few

Re: fine china
It's really up to you and your FH, you should put on your registry whatever you really want!
FH and I live together so we already have a lot of appliances, etc that we don't need to register for so I put fine china on there. I figure its so expensive I would never go and buy my self 12 place settings! LOL So for me it just made sense, and my aunts were all excited about it and have already started buying me for engagement and christmas. haha
But if there is a lot of other stuff you want/need and don't think you'll use china enough then it doesn't make sense. Check out your registry with FH and discuss to see if its a good idea or not!
hope that helps!

I registered for it. If no one buys it then no sweat off my back. I didn't register for an expensive set.

Believe me I was too!! My china is $129 per place setting (though with BBB 20% a bit better) and the matching silverwear was $50 per palce setting!! no way...we found every silverwear to match and are going to keep one set away so it stays nice and unsctrached. lol!

Re: fine china
it was actually the very last thing in the world that i wanted on our registry (thought it was a big waste). but then i found a vera wang pattern i just fell in love with. i couldnt believe when we put the stemware and silverware with it how beautiful it was. i started crying in the store (so embarrassing).
and i know noone will buy it for us - but at least we'll get a discount if we purchase it ourselves. 1 piece at a time.

Re: fine china
my mom is very traditional and keeps insisting we register for it. i think its a waste since there are other things we would rather have and that we would use more. overall, i doubt ill register for it.

Re: fine china
I'm not just for the simple fact that I won't use it. We registered for everyday dishes. I may purchase later on down the line from an outlet if I decide I want it.

Re: fine china
we're not registering for it because we won't use it - plus my mom has offered up her set (which she hardly uses too) if we ever want it.
I'd rather get a better quality everyday set

Re: fine china
I am not registering for it since I was given my grandmothers. However, you may have better luck at Macys. It goes one sale and you get deals like, spend XYZ and get the creamer bowl for free or something like that. My mom did that for my bro & SIL.
I use my China on holidays, it's a nice touch.

Re: fine china
Yeah I went to BBB and found a set i really liked... the sales woman set up a whole table setting it practically sold me lol. We have really nice everyday dinnerware already so I guess we will register for the china... it's true though it won't get much use except for holidays etc but I feel like I will regret it later on if I don't have it. Thanks for all your thoughts ladies!

Re: fine china
I really like to have fine china and only use it for special events. I think it makes it all more special. But I def agree they can be very pricey. Usually family members purchase the expensive things u register for. But sometimes friends also split the cost for a big item, I don't personally mind this
