Finished my Precana! (pics) long

We finished precana!
We went for 5 Mondays 8-10 pm in a married couples home, then tonight our 6th week, was a mass for the engaged couples.
The priest who is marrying us did the mass and it was beautiful!
We had to write one another letters of why we love each other & why we want to marry one another.

When we first walked in church, they handed all the engaged ladies (5 of us) flowers

Then we handed in our letters. during the mass all the couples went on the alter (felt wierd being ON the alter! but nice!!)

The priest blessed all our letter and our e-rings

(I have been wanting mine blessed since I got it over a year ago!)

After these were blessed and communion, the priest gave each couple 3 gifts.
One was a reading of These Hands..I bugged out since I was planning to use this on our wedding day!!! (I'll post the reading it is beautiful!)
Second was a beautiful cross with two wedding bands on it to hang in your home, and the third was a wedding magnet.

Then they had refreshments for us. All in all I loved it & had a wonderful happy night!

I'm glad to hear that you had such a good experience at Precana. It sounds like both you and FH found it inspiring and worthwhile.

At first we looked at it as a chore, but actually started to look forward to the meetings.

We also had to write each other letters. We've promised to take them out often and re-read them to each other.

I went to two weddings in Hoboken (one last April and one this October) and both couples had to write those same letters. Then, at the ceremony the priest read them - it was so nice and made the ceremony personal. I don't know if your church is planning on reading them - but its a thought.

Hi Jenn! Its me Stacey from your Pre-Cana group! You were right this site is awesome!!! Last night mass was really beautiful, made all those late Monday nights worth it. Hope to see you guys soon.

We had an almost identical pre-cana. We did ours all in one day though - kinda torturous. The mass was beautiful though, made it all worthwhile.

we got the same cross, I really like it. We didn't have a mass, the priest was supposed to come to the precana house, but couldn't make it. They also had us write letters, but then seal them and take them home to read on our wedding morning. I slept like a baby the night before my wedding, woke up at 7:30, (I was sleeping at my cousins) - I lit a candle bc it was raining and dreary and I didn't want to think about that and I read my letter. It was so touching and perfect. He had forgotten about his letter (i knew he would so gave it to one of the groomsmen to give to him before the church) - not that anyone asked, just in a sharing mood! Oh yeah, I woke up again around 9, with my cousin taking my picture of me sleeping, and saying, that's the first of about a thousand pictures today! Days after the wedding, I found out his best friend did the same to him, at 9 o'clock too! I hope they both came out, that will be so cute to see the two pictures together~

HOly cow Jenn! That is RIGHT down the street from our house! In fact, I go to Resurrection Ascension for RCIA classes (I am converting)....can you tell me more about this pre-cana? Schedules, etc? Our priest - Diocese of Rockville Centre - said we can do pre-cana in either Rochville Centre or the Brooklyn Diocese. He didn't care which...
