First Class to Hawaii?
I am trying to decide if it is worth it to fly first class to Hawaii. For those who are planning and those who already have gone please let me know your opinion.

First Class to Hawaii?
We are not going first class. It would be nice, but it would be more than $2,000 more and we would rather put that towards an unlimited (within reason) budget when we get there! I wouldn`t recommend you don`t do it, though. It is probably a great way to fly! They do have more leg room in coach now. My last couple trips have been much more pleasant than those before. A little more leg room goes a long way!

We did it...
We flew first class and it was a great way to go! My husband is 6'4' and there was no way he could sit in coach for that long. Keep in mind that with the stopover, etc. it took us all totaled 13 hours to get there and even longer to get home. It is a really long trip. But it is expensive, no question. We thought it was worth it. If you can swing it, I suggest doing it. The airfare ended up being part of our entire trip package so in the end I don't know what the actual cost was. But Carrie is right - lots of airlines are making room in coach and our flights were packed both going and returning. We flew American which I think is one airline that is making more room.

We got upgraded...
We didn't go to Hawaii, we went to Myrtle Beach, SC, but we mentioned we were on our honeymoon and they upgraded us to first class and gave us a bottle of champagne to take with us. On the way back, they did not have first class available, but they did move us to a row without a third passenger sharing it. Also, as another option, you can try to book the bulkhead seats, which tend to have more room, or get to the airport extra early and book the exit row seats, which also have more leg room. They generally will only book exit rows at the airport although for some airlines I think if you are one of their upper level frequent flyers they make exceptions. My few experiences in first class are that they definately are more comfortable, but I don't think I'd pay the extra unless I was on a really long flight, like 23 hours to Australia!

First Class to Hawaii?
we are not paying for first class, but i will put my name on the upgrade list. whatever happens happens. we are taking the direct flight instead! out of newark on continental. only 9 hrs. approx. it's not too bad. not worth the money.

We got upgraded...
I got upgraded to first class coming home from Alaska. It's especially nice if your not too keen on flying. They keep you occupied with food and drink the whole time(even before take off)

We got upgraded...
I recently read an article in Bottom Line magazine on the 10 best ways to get upgraded to first class. #1 on the list was to let the airline know that you are on your honeymoon. The article said to take along the certificate showing that you have just been married, just in case they ask you for proof. It was also suggested that you let all hotels and restuarants know that you are honeymooners as you are much more likely to get a better room or even a free meal. Not every place will do it, but most will give you something.Welcome New Vendors
