First Dance Song Opinion

Hi Everyone!!! You guys have been so helpful I just had to ask your opinion on the song me and my FH want to use as our first dance. We want to dance to The Scientist by Coldplay. If anyone knows this song the lyrics are kind of sad and some have suggested it is not an appropriate wedding song.

There are many beautiful wedding songs out there but this is the only song both me and my FH can agree on.

Please let me how you guys feel about this song and I would also love to know what your first dance song will be!!

It is a very beautiful song, but personally... i'm VERY into lyrics, and i don't really think the lyrics are appropriate for a wedding song. we also had a lot of trouble finding a song because i'm always analyzing the lyrics! (e.g., although we consider 'our song' to be faithfully by journey since its the first song we ever danced to, i didn't want to use it as our wedding song since the lyrics don't really fit us).

JMO! it is a very beautiful song though...

Thank you so much for posting the lyrics!! Even when I read it I hear the tune in my head and get sentimental. Oh nooo, don't know what to do

Its actually really about a scientist! He wrote it because he was really into some scientist...(I have no idea who, now that I think about it), but I remember reading that.

That's what me and FH think but we always ask each other are we sure we ant this? oye.

I'm also into lyrics.... and am torn by your idea! (We're both scientists, and met in the lab... so I want she blinded me with science , but FH is too young to remember that song and says it's dorky )

But, to me, it sounds like a break-up song

Actually, in the video, he doesn't just break up with the girl; he kills her.

BUT! Whatever, it's a lovely sounding song and if you and your FH both want it, that's what counts. My bigger concern would be that it's soooooo sloooooow you might just be standing there swaying for 4 minutes.

Oh boooooy. You guys definitely bring up some valid points. I guess the search is still on! I am sure the perfect song is out there and hopefully 4+ months is more than enough time to find it (not to mention also a father/daughter song!).

For DH and I, we LOL narrowed it down to-
-Firehouse [Love of a lifetime]
-Bon Jovi [Thank You Fot Loving Me]
-Bon Jovi [I'll be there for you]
-Journey [Faithfully]

We wound up chosing 'love of a lifetime' b/c it was more special because it was always our song, when we first started dating. For me, I wanted to [towards the end] change it to 'thank you for loving me' but he didn't, so we kept it, and we made 'love of a lifetime' our first dance and 'thank you for loving me' our 2nd to last dance.

Journey, 'faithfully' - the lyrics didnt decribe us, because my dh isn't a 'music man' or wasn't on the rd. And the first time we had our first huge fight as girflriend and boyfriend, that was thr song we danced to right after the fight, so it brought back a bad memory of that song....still love it tho and it was still played at the wedding on my play list!

Another few nice songs are 'I don't want to miss a thing' [aerosmith] that was our 2nd dance/parents-bridal party-guests to join in dancing.

And I love Kc & JoJo's 'all my life!'

I would say that it is ***************** but my suggestion, if you want to find another song, is to get into the living room, put the TV on one of the music stations and/or use your Ipod (or radio, or whatever) and get dancing and see what feels good! If that's still the song, that's still the song!!!

Most likely if we really cant decide on a song we both like together then we'll just end up with what we originally decided on. I have 100's of great song ideas and each one got shot down by FH. Grrrrr

I say we should just dance to the song of songs, 'Smack My B*tch Up' Grandma would looove that one!

i think if it has sentimental value to you and your FH then who cares what everyone else thinks. Chris Martins' voice is so soothing that i doubt anyone will care!

but i think it's even cuter if the song has meaning that only you and your FH know...kinda like an inside joke.
