Hi Everyone!!! You guys have been so helpful I just had to ask your opinion on the song me and my FH want to use as our first dance. We want to dance to The Scientist by Coldplay. If anyone knows this song the lyrics are kind of sad and some have suggested it is not an appropriate wedding song.
There are many beautiful wedding songs out there but this is the only song both me and my FH can agree on.
Please let me how you guys feel about this song and I would also love to know what your first dance song will be!!

IMHO it is a little depressing for a first dance. I LOVE the song, but it doesn't scream to me, 'OH MY GOD WERE IN LOVE!'. But if it means something special to the two of you that's all that matters. Isn't one of the lyrics, 'Its such a shame for us to part,' I could be confusing it with another Coldplay song.
Pls don't be offended, like I said if it means something special to the two of you, then it's your song!

I say go for it if thats the only song you and FH can agree on and if it has a special meaning. But this is coming from someone who usually doesn't pay attention to lyrics...so if I heard it at ur wedding I'd probably just think o what a nice song and watch you guys share ur first dance.

I absolutely love the song but if you look at the lyrics printed out...it is a song about leaving or losing someone...and I would wonder why it was being used if I was at your wedding...that being said....its your day and if the song means a lot to both of you....then you should go for it!
I love this song as well, but I don't know if I would use it for my wedding song. But I agree with Marchbride07, it is your wedding and if you and FH love this song then go for it.

Kate Beckinsale used The Scientist for her wedding song....
I thinks its a gorgeous song. Do what you want. Your guests aren't going to be sitting their with lyric sheets anaylzing. They'll be taking photos & being happy for you, no matter what the song.
