So my fh proposed to me by a lighthouse on the beach and it was perfect. I wanted to incorporate that into the wedding and i fell in love with having my reception at the chelsea lighthouse in the city, when i called for a price range they said its 225$ per person for an August ,sat urday night wedding.. way over my budget. I'm so dissapointed now and back to square one

Aww I am so sorry.
How about having it on a beach. Are there any beaches where the is a lighthouse in the background?

awww...that is a bit high! I'm sure that you can still do a lighthouse theme (if you want to) and have your wedding at a place on the water.

keep checking for other locations that can go with that theme don't let it bring you down...Just be careful of manhattan locations bc most of them are in that price range

thanks for the ideas, i did consider having a beach reception, however, i dont like the idea of having sand in my shoes, dress, and everywhere else. I'm sure my guests would hav issues with it as well.
I know having a reception anywhere in Manhattan is expensive, but at a bridal magazine i bought it said the place starts at 111$ so i got over excited, maybe they ment for a breakfast reception. Even in Jan-Feb its 175$. they suck!!

oh dont pay attention to the beginning prices of reception halls in magazines, they give you basically prices for daytime winter weddings, and even then it'll still be lower than what it really is. They want you to come in and look at the place and hopefully they can convince you to spend more, its just a tactic to get people there
You can have your reception at a place that is waterfront and not on the beach though, they do it on premises at the catering hall but you have the water as the background
look at pictures of chateau la mer, crescent beach club, venetian yacht club...they all have water views but ceremony is done at the place outside

Chateau la mer is VERY reasonable...for august it will be about $110pp after taxes, depends if you want to add any extras...before taxes its about $85 or $95 pp...I had my engagement party there and the food is also amazing, guests kept telling us how good it was and got seconds, even FH's family who is italian and makes everything home made and VERY picky. They were great to work with and do a great job. I have pics in my album of my e-party there if you want to see the room
Venetian yacht club, ive seen girls paying about $115-125 for summer weddings
crescent beach club i heard is more expensive

^^agrees with Espo
First of all, congrats on your engagement. I would have thought about getting married in the city but it's way too expensive. So LI is the way to go.
CLM goes for 68-115 per person. The date that I am going for would cost me 68 and that's a Sunday afternoon wedding. I went there the other day and it's more beautiful in person.
CBC is a bit more but it's much less than the Lighthouse. For the date I wanted it would be 125pp but can go as high as 200pp on a Saturday night. However, it's on the beach and if you're a beach lover, then it would be perfect.
There are also stuff at the Hamptons that might be less than the Lighthouse but it does look nice. Try Altantica.

Highly recommend Chateau La Mer...we love the waterfront views, you get tons of food and the place is absolutely stunning....love it! Also try the riviera for waterfront, Lands End as well..

Re: first dissapointment..vent
i checked out the CLM, rieviera and Venetian websites and the places are beautiful but they are over an hour drive from my house. I was looking for something closer, especially since more then half my guests live in brooklyn. I'm def. sticking to the lighthouse/beach theme. All you girls are great thanks for all the feedback and suggestions.
