First Engagement Spinoff: Is DH/FH your first proposal?

Was your DH your first marriage proposal? Did you turn someone else down previously? Obviously if you were engaged before you have accepted before ... how many proposals have you had?

For me there was one other before DH. He proposed twice actually. Once without the ring, once with (same guy). I was able to stop him halfway through getting down on one knee. But then he went out and got a ring (I think he thought that's why I wouldn't let him propose). Then when he did whip out the ring... I literally RAN away. It was awful!

Yup, we went to HS together. She is two yrs younger. Well, anyways..that didnt work cause she met someone else and lcuky me got FH

Just one other that I accepted and then later called off.

I was engaged previously and called it off just five months before the wedding. It was scary because I was so worried about losing everything I spent $$$ on but in the end it was the best thing I ever did. Very embarassing though I was too young and had no business getting married.

I'm not sure if this counts, but when I was 20yo, this guy I was dating, gave me a solitaire ring on Valentine's Day. He didn't ASK, but he assumed I knew what he meant. I took it as a gift, and we stayed DATING. We broke up less than 2 months later. The best part? He swore it was real, but it was a cubic zirconia!

So does that count as engagement?

Yeah, that's how it was with me too.
So I never had any proposal.

DH was 'engaged' sort of before. The reason I say sort of is because they only spoke about being engaged and had a long distance relationship. No ring or anything. It was more of a promise to be engaged.

Oh those? I got those all the time 'will u marry me?'... lol

My sons father proposed to me - but that was after I had already moved out and left him! I obviously said NO!

So my Dh was my second proposal.

My college BF & I were going to get married (the ring is actually smaller than my smallest diamond stud earring and we paid for it on layaway!!! ). We were so young and clueless.

My ex before DH called me once & made it clear he wanted me back 'even if it means getting a ring'. Funny thing is, I was totally in love & obsessed with this man for YEARS and only started seeing DH (and believe me, it was a rocky start) but I really didn't consider it at all.
