... is TODAY! Meeting with Kelly from Glam Me Up tonight for my first makeup trial!

Any tips/anything I should know/anything I should bring?

P.S. Of course I will post photos for everyone to see if I can figure out how to upload the pictures!

------------

So the trial was..... AMAZING!
She does fantastic work, she uses mostly MAC makeup which I love. The airbrushing doesn't even feel like theres anything on my face. She really tries to get a sense of you as an individual and what would fit not only your face but your personality. I TOTALLY recommend. I felt beautiful until...

the aftermath of the trial. I came home and the only thing my FH could mutter out was 'thats a lot of makeup on your face' with a look of disgust. Are you kidding me? He KNEW I was going to a makeup trial and that I was excited to come home and show him. I was hoping for the 'you look beautiful', but didnt get that. AND on top of that, I walked away clearly upset and he apologized to me but said he wasnt expecting me to wear that much makeup. I even told him that I was hoping he would say I look pretty or something AND HE STILL didnt say it. He just kept saying sorry.

I'm so so so so mad, upset, hurt. Maybe I'm being ridiculous or childish, but I was really hurt by that and I am literally sitting here in tears about it. (Sorry I wont be able to post any pictures)

U know what my FH said the same thing when we got our engagement pictures done i had my makeup and he looked at me and said really i dont like that at all..and he had the nerve to say well u better not look like that on our wedding day ....arrrr man they just dont get it at all..and i told him listen though out the day there are going to be a lot of pictures and i want to look good ...so get over it ...im sorry

You are not being childish at all. It makes sense that you would want him to like it. Again, what these other ladies are saying, makeup needs to be heavier on your wedding bc of all the pictures and stuff. I am sure you looked beautiful in it =)

I would feel the same way. Men don't realize that we need all that make-up. I'm sure he won't be saying that on your wedding day.

Crashing - I went through the exact same thing. I wear makeup every day, but not a lot. I had 3 makeup trials and my DH didn't like any of them (and I told each one that I wanted very natural looking, not heavy at all, but some were so heavy even I didn't like it). Finally, my 4th trial I loved it and DH's reaction was - well that's better than the other ones - not exactly a rave review I booked that MU artist and we both thought I looked beautiful on my wedding day . If you loved the look from this trial, go with it, if not, keep looking. No matter what, you'll look beautiful on your wedding and and your FH will think so too.

OMG the same thing happened to me. I had my trial with her this afternoon and I thought it looked great!! Came home and my FH told me I looked 'dead' LOL. I think he is just not used to seeing me with any makeup on at all because I usually just wear mascara and chapstick. I also told him I would be more tan in June than I am now. When we are in our wedding dresses and have our hair done up, the makeup will look great and I am sure our FH's will be happy. Don't sweat it, he probably just has to get used to seeing you with all that makeup on. These men are something else I tell ya!

I'm sorry this happened to you . When I had my trial done my mother also had a trial for her makeup. We absolutely LOVED our makeup and even went back to my moms house to take pictures of how it looked. When my dad walked in he had the same reaction as your FH. He kept telling my mom that he doesn't like seeing her with THAT much makeup on. After this my mom tried taking some of it off and felt really bad as well. I think that guys just dont understand that you really do need a decent amount of makeup to last the day and to show in pictures. Maybe you can ask if she can do a less dramatic look on your eyes or more neutral colors. At the end of the day I know your feelings were hurt, but it is nice to know that you are marrying someone who loves you for who you are without all that makeup on. HTH!

Okay I never got to post the update the day after because my computer crashed, so here it is:

The morning after I posted that, I took everyone's advice and confronted him about it. I told him that I was bothered and hurt by that comment and I explained to him that granted I don't wear a lot of makeup usually (virtually none) I have to wear a lot of makeup for the photography and so it lasts from 11:30am-1:30am. And then came the best response I could ever wish for:

He said, 'I'm so so sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you or upset you. What I meant to say was the girl I fell in love didn't wear makeup and didn't have to because she was so beautiful. I think you're beautiful with the makeup or without it and I'm sorry I didn't explain it better before.'

Why I love FH

I am going to still meet with a couple of other makeup artists, but I still love kelly's work.

Thank you ladies for all of your support and sorry for the ladies who already heard the story on saturday at our G2G
