First RSVP 'Cancellation'!

Original post by Soon2BMrsC09

17 days to go. They were one of the first RSVP's - but a 'vacation' came up that they just cant miss - so they will be unable to attend.. thank goodness it was before we made our final headcount in EXACTLY ONE week! Let the cancellations begin....

People who cancel an rsvp on short notice just aren't aware of the costs involved...and the amount of time that goes into planning a wedding. We brides are pretty harsh on ourselves and we pay attention to details that guest wouldn't even notice...only really other brides do.

To be honest...before I started planning my own wedding I had no idea of all the expenses, the amount per person that you pay, and the money spent on weddings as a whole, and the energy it takes to plan a wedding....and a lot of other people are clueless too.

While it is true for me too, that I didn't know how much planning and expense was involved in a wedding before my own, that doesn't meant you get excused from basic common manners. (and even if you don't know the cost or planning for a wedding, you still understand that it is a WEDDING and therefore rather important to the people inviting you). Even if you were invited to a wedding that was held in a backyard, cost nothing, and there was only punch and cookies afterwards, that doesn't mean you can RSVP when you feel like it and cancel an RSVP later because something else came up. This is just basic manners.

Saw her at work she had a VERY lame excuse but then said her gift was in the mail...I'm still waiting!!!

That's exactly how I feel. You would hurt my feelings ALOT more for making me spend $$ I don't have than for you to just be honest and say you can't come
