Florist help

Re: Florist help

I got qoutes from Jack and Rose, FLowers by Brian, Pedestals, and James Crest. Nothing came near 6000. I think there has got to be something wrong here that you aren't realizing. Either you want an emense amount of floral decoration OR you are picking expensive flowers. I too looked into the Lily of the Valley and they are VERY expensive..so if that was in your quotes then some of this makes sense but just for hydrengeas..that is a little weird

What were you getting for 6000????

Re: Florist help

I have 5 Bm's and was looking at about 13-15 centerpieces and looked at flowers by brian, flower Michele, Pedestals (I am using them) and about 8 other florists.

I would say your quotes are high - unless you are doing something VERY extravagant - I am using all calla lilies (which I have been told are expensive flowers) and with the exception of one place NOT on your list I was quoted 3k-4k - so I would say that I would ask for some kind of a breakdown - are you getting a Huppah (sp?) or something else that might raise your price? Also a low centerpiece is not necessarily less expensive - it could be you are using A LOT of flowers in them -

Re: Florist help

My aunt and cousin do wedding flowers.

Flowers by Rosemarie
She is located in sayville.

Weddings is what she specializes in, and I think the price you were quoted is obsurd!

If you are interested in her info, FM me.
I am pretty sure she has packages, or can work with you on whatever ideas that you have.

OMG!!!! Those prices are ridiculous!!! Call The Flower Barn in Syosset. I can get you the number if you need it. They are doing my wedding, including 15CP's, 7 buttonierres, bo-k for me, MOH, 3BM's, throwaway, hall table, and throw-away for less than $2000. We are having almost all roses, but they are my favorite flowers, and to me they are most romantic anyway so I don't mind. But even if they use other flowers, I can't see it being $6000!!!!

Try Murphy's Florist in Bayside, Queens. Kevin is wonderful, professional, honest and EXTREMELY talented! He TRULY does work with YOUR budget and doesn't toot his own horn. His work is 'different', as opposed to run-of-the mill. And, he will NOT try to boost his business or his name when you meet with him. I have been dealing with him for regular flowers for years, and he did my silk bouquet for my wedding. FABULOUS!

What flowers are you using for your tables? Hydrangeas can run $$$ and orchids for SURE. It depends on the look and types that you are going for but still, $6k is a lot. I wasn't quoted anywhere near that from Flower Michele and I am having mostly English roses, mini calla lillies and various other flowers - in a very untraditional CP - something he's never done before.

I've heard Jack and Rose is less expensive but I didn't find him to be as creative as I had hoped for what I was looking for.

Re: Florist help

OMG Sounds extremely outrageous for $6000 on flowers.
I have not started to look for a florist yet but I am hoping to spend less than $2000.
Will $2000 cover??? Me, moh, 3bm, 4 corsages, 8 boutins, 15-17 low table centerpeices, some flowers on chuppa.

Simple and pretty flowers are all I need.
I don't need fancy ones.
Someone please tell me my $2000 will cover?

When I asked about Lily of the Valley for a bouquet - they said they wouldn't work and are too expensive. Nothing was said about the other flowers I chose

Lily of the Valley can be very expensive if you get it out of season. I see you are getting married in August and they are a spring flower.
FH got me a bouquet of Lily of the Valley the night we got engaged in December...he had to have them flown in from Scandanavia (sp?) and it cost him $280! (hehehe, I found the receipt a year later after I moved in )
Anyway, that might be why...
other than that, I am using Flower Michele, I have hydrangea in my centerpieces (18 total) plus 6 BM...and it is costing me half of what you were quoted.
