Florist price questions:

Original post by mandag

Ok ladies - I don't post often because I'm not supposed to at work - but I need some input.

I've gotten two quotes from florists - one for $3600, one for $3900. THis includes delivery fees and tax.

My flowers are peonies, roses, hydrangea and some others - my inspiration is below:

I am getting:

17 low centerpieces, footed silver bowls filled with the flowers
My BoK
4 BM BoK
6 GM bouts
2 nosegays for moms
2 corsages for Grandma's
A wrought iron arbor to get married under with large arrangements on each side (2 arrangements)
Arrangements for entrance table, cake and fireplace mantel

Do those prices seem high? or are they just about right?

Thank you so much!

Re: Florist price questions:

Thanks for all the input ladies. I think what's really causing my problem is that my centerpieces need a LOT of flowers. They are fluted bowls that are 8 inches wide across and they are supposed to be teeming with flowers - like this:

I'm starting to think that for her quality her prices are pretty much on the money!

I guess I was lowballing it, personally.

Can i ask any of you gals who are doing low centerpieces - who is your florist and what price range are you in? $100 didn't sound high to me originally, but now some of the comments have me second guessing...

thanks!

Re: Florist price questions:

THATS DEFINATELY HIGH!!!

I'm paying around $3k for 17 high and low CP, 8 BM bo-ks, my bok, nosegay for mom, memorial wreath for FH's mom, 3 corsages, 14 bouts, draped chiffon and 12 floral pew arrangements at church, altar baskets of cherry blossoms, presentation for Mary, floating orchids on CH tables (25 tables in total), escort table arrangement, wrapped ivy around bird baths (i provide the baths), and and orchid florette at each place setting

PLUS my florist uses all organic flowers.

Granted, Peonies and hydrangeas are notoriously expensive and my flowers are slightly cheaper, but considering what you're asking for you can do waaaaaaaaay better than that!!

Try Verbena!!!! You can also try Laurie from LA Blossoms!!! she was AMAZING- she did my FBIL's wedding and it was OUTSTANDING!!!

My low CP's are $65 and they have hydrangea, snap dragons, tulips, cherry brandy roses, spray roses, orchids, hypercum berries and bells of ireland- and the bowls are filled with keylimes, lemons, lady apples and tangerines

Honestly- they're FLOWERS!! Don't stress, there's definately some design element to them, but they're just flowers....try some other places. Even though you may have had a good conversation with someone in the end its just business. don't spend money you don't have to. They're paying the same for these flowers that everyone else is- its their labor rate that's really high. But again- its whatever you're comfortable with- you shouldn't stress about something like this- will they show up with what you ordered? That's the important thing! Everything else is just fanciness

I know - you are probably right!! I guess I'll look into some other vendors, then, too.

Yeah, it can't hurt! Seriously- start with Laurie from LA Blossom. she was Vendor of the Year last year and she does beautiful work for VERY reasonable. she's extremely creative and when you make an appointment with her she'll meet you at the closest Starbucks to you

She's very sweet. I definately also recommend Verbena Designs in Hicksville. Jen is AWESOME!!! She's also very reasonably priced and she'll do a sample CP for you before you book!

thats the only thing that threw me off, was that low cp's were $100 from what i know they are normally lower...High cp's start at 125 so if you were to get high cp's with alot more flowers it would be only $25 more, although if you used peonies for high cp's it would be more than $125...maybe make a thread asking girls how much they paid for their low cp's, i just know from seeing quotes on here they were usually a little under $100.
If you are happy with the quote then and its in your budget then dont worry about it.
