Florist Sales was not upfront with me...

Florist Sales was not upfront with me...

We selected a florist based on the quality of their flowers, and because they had a picture of my dream bouquet in their portfolio. Only after they had 2/3’s of my money (1/3 to book, 1/3 at creative session) was I told that I had to provide all the accessories (i.e. bouquet jewelry, broaches, etc) myself and that none were included. The florist said I would have to buy wire and hot glue gun and put the accessories together myself for them to incorporate…how crazy is that! I am furious, at no time did the sales person tell us this. I noticed on these message Boards that my Florist has an “F” with the BBB. I looked it up myself and it is true…sadly the one I turned down is in good standing!

If I knew then what I know now I would have went with the other florist we met. I felt guilty turning the other one down...now I know that the 'guilty' feeling was really my gut instinct telling me that I was making a mistake. I will recommend the one I turned down any day over the one I selected. I guess I just have to break out the hot glue gun and move on…I just can’t help but wonder why the heck I am paying a florist if I am doing their work for them!

Maybe its just me, but I thought those things weren't included. It suckks to find out now, but unless it was stated in my contract, I wouldn't assume it was included.

ETA: I know you're new, but both your posts are kinda like The first thing you do is complain...

I was under the impression that those were things you had to provide yourself...many girls have had to do these things for themselves.

That stinks that your florist has an F with the BBB.
But those items you mentioned (broach, etc) are never included in florist quotes. I have to provide my own too. So don't hate your florist just yet. They may do a great job and you might be pleasantly surprised!

That ***** they weren't up front with you. I have to provide everything for my bo-k too. Even the ribbon to wrap the stems if I want a specific color. BUt I guess the difference is they told me that from the get go instead of assuming I just knew that.

Try Michael's, they have those rhinestone buckles that get slid over ribbon if that is what you are looking for. Or maybe wedding factory direct?? I don't think it'll cost too much.

All of those things were included in my proposal. I guess each florist is different.

Sorry you had to find out now, it is possible to add them to the contract at this point for a price?

Yep. I've never heard of a florist providing bouquet charms, jewelry or brooches ... that's on the bride to provide.

Re: Florist Sales was not upfront with me...

The florist appointment was overwhelming and they rushed me through the process. They were late for our appointment and then said that the promotion they were offering ended that day so I needed to make a decision. I told the florist what I wanted, and it was in their book. They could have told me to me that it was not included instead of making it appear as though it was.

The florist that I did not select actually DID include the accessories in the cost. I should not have assumed that the one that I selected did as well. I don’t really care about having to provide the bouquet jewelry and can see why that wouldn’t be included...I am just a little resentful that for the amount that I am spending I have to buy seashells and hot glue gun them to wire. It makes me wonder why the heck I am even paying a florist when it feels as though I am doing their work for them. The other florist was happy to do that for the same exact price.

That aside, I thought the purpose of these board was to have a place to share information and to vent. I know I am new to posting but I am optimistic that other brides may learn from my mistakes and the mistakes vendors made with me. I have been fortunate to have a fairly stress free wedding planning experience thus far. I hit the 3 month mark and things started to get crazy, hence the complaints. I am at a place where I thought only another bride can understand where I am coming from..…may I only have feelings and complain after I’ve made my 100th post? Mommy and Daddy aren’t paying for my wedding, it is upsetting when you are not getting what your hard earned money is paying for.

A LOT of us are paying for our own weddings too you're not alone there and most of us understood why you were upset. I just think we've just seen a lot of instances where vendors come on here posing as brides and badmouth other vendors and they're usually the ones with just one or two posts.

A lot of times when girls come on for the first time they'll post a thread introducing themselves. You should do that, I promise we're actually a nice crowd.

Totally stinks about your florist but I went on numerous appts with different florist and accessories were never included although, I don't agree with you having to purchase a hot glue gun and wire, thats a bit ridiculous.

Also, I can assure you my mommy and daddy aren't paying for my wedding either. I know its rough but I am sure it will all work out

Wow, that Mommy & Daddy comment was completely rude and uncalled for.
