Re: flower advice

Bring her a lot of ideas, know what you want, and be prepared to be disappointed in that they may lack ideas... Thats' been my experience with 2 florists that I saw, and now I am making pricing phone calls based on the basic bouquets that I want...

I hate florist searching!!!

Re: flower advice

Bring photos!! Dont assume that just because you explain it really well they will 'get it'. (even with specific photos my florist still screwe it up)

Re: flower advice

First understand that your might change your mind about colors/types of flowers etc...during your planning. You need to know that you have some flexibility with the price quote you are given. But you should have the answers to these questions:
-Do you want high or low centerpieces?
-Do you want candles in the centerpieces, on the tables, other places?
-Approx. how many tables will you have?
-How many BMs, GM, mothers, special people need flowers?
-Do you want cascades, hand-held, or tear-drop bouquets?
-Do you need flowers for your ceremony? If so, where do you need them?
-Bring a photo/magazine clipping of your gown and BM gowns. That really helps. As well as color of both.
-Do you know what you want or do you need a lot of ideas?
Ask them:
-Will you give me a free sample centerpiece a week PRIOR to the wedding so I can make any changes or confirm that I am happy with it?
-What if I decide that I want to change a flower type in my bouquet, will that change the price quote or are you flexiable?
-Do you use filler (such as baby breath) in the centerpieces, bouquets?
-Do I have to make ALL decisions tonight? I went to one florist who wanted me to know what kind of flower I wanted in my Dad's bot. a year before my wedding. I was totally overwhelmed and thankfully did not go with that florist.
-What type of container is my centerpieces put in? Do I have choses? What is the price difference of each one?
-How often do we met prior to the wedding?
-Price structure (ie: when do you pay, deposit amounts etc..)

Hope this helps.

Re: flower advice

Thanks Michelle!

Anyone have any legal/contract advice?

I just went to a wedding and all the flowers were almost dead can I ask if they can include something in the contract that I will get some sort of refund if something like that happens? Has anyone asked this, will they think I'm crazy?

Re: flower advice

cippy, I saw NJ florists, so they won't be relevant to you, I am assuming.

Michelle, I think I am gonna use some of your questions with my florist visits.

Re: flower advice

Thanks, Michelle, your advice has been very helpful. I'm beginning to look at florists myself.
