Flower budget

Flower budget

What would you say is an average floral budget? We're trying to figure out what ours should be.

We'd need my bo-k, 4 BM bo-ks, flowers for 2 moms, 2 grandmas, bouts for FH, 5 GMs, 2 dads. We want low CPs, probably about 18 of them, and maybe 2 altar decorations. I love hydrangeas, so those will be the main flowers used and then roses and maybe some mini callas.

What do you girls think would be a realistic budget? Thanks!

I went to a small local florist...

My bouquet
the throw away
8 bm bouquets
1 FG basket
6 corsages
11 boutinerries
22 centerpieces
flowers for Mary
bouquet for my family saint
the toole bows for the pues
and to arrangements for the alter at church
we pay about 3500, but that was the most expensive

Re: Flower budget

i would say between $3-$4k depending on exactly what you want. but keep in mind if you go to a florist and tell him exactly what you said below - he will probably say he can do it even if you say your budget is $2k. just keep in mind that the same amount of items at $2k will not be as 'full' as those same items as $4k. they should still contain all the flowers you want - theyll just be smaller.
unless you have a budget that is totally unworkable most florists will say they can meet whatever you give them. i had a friend that spent $1200 on just about the same number of items as you but with roses only from one of the top vendors on this site. she thought she was getting a great price was VERY dissappointed that the centerpieces were almost all leaves with roses sparsely spread out. they werent lush with roses like the ones you see in the magazines..
so keep that in mind when you go to your florist meetings.

That's almost exactly what I'm getting and I'm paying under 2K. I'm not getting church decorations so you might want to budget 2-3K.

i agree, u can get something in the 2-3k range for sure.

i got almost as many flowers, only difference is 11 centerpieces instead of your 18. And I'm paying about 1200 with mostly roses and orchids! :D

We are getting about that much (more BQ's less centerpiece's) and are paying 2K at Burtons.

Re: Flower budget

also remember it depends on the type of centerpiece that you want

I would say $2500. Probably less. Unless you are getting huge arrangements.

I am getting just about the same amount of flowers, except for the church decorations and I am paying just under $3K. I am doing peonies, roses, hydrangea, ranunculus.

I'm having 6BM, 2JBM, 1FG and 6ushers and 3 junior ushers... 2 sets of parents, also low CPs, and church done. Flowers by brian quoted me around 2500..

Florists will always negotiate prices so try to hussle them!

LA Blossom
I'm using all blue hydrangeas in the CPs and the BQs have hydrangea, roses and stephanotis in the them.

i think you could do that for 2000-2500. if you search you could get a price like that. i had about half that amount and i paid about 1k.

Re: Flower budget

try to work backwards. What is your budget?
What i did, i said that i dont want to spend more than 1300 for flowers b/c although flowers are beautiful, IMO they are a waste of money once you start spending $3-4,000 ( you could buy a car for the price you spend on flowers)

My top priority is food, music, and the bride

If $2,000 is your budget or $4,000 is your budget, go to the florist, tell him what u want and what is your budget and work it out from there...
otherwise, if you walk into a florist with the list, they will ring up a huge tab and you may think that price is the average price of flowers, but you can def. nip and tuck!

good luck!

She has awsome prices.. was the cheapest of all the florists I went to see...

And the quality of her work is great, but by the time we decided she already booked someone for our day, but i would definitely check her out

Re: Flower budget

I went to 14 florists. The price range I was quoted for the same low CP (hydrangea, gerber daisies, alstromeria w/ candles) was $65 (Signature Florist) to $100 (Flower Michele). The price went up by a significant amount to add calla lilies to the CPs (if memory serves me right it was @ $20 extra per CP). The price range I was quoted for a bridal bo-k of calla lilies & stephanotis were $175-$300. Price range for BM bo-k of just calla lilies $85-$150. Bouts ranged from $6 to $10, corsages were either $15 or $20 from everyone.
When all was said and done, the majority of quotes for what I needed came in at @ $1700, with a low of $1450 and a high of $2100.

I don't need alter decorations, so I can't help, but hopefully these prices ranges will give you a guide.

Re: Flower budget

We had around the same amount of stuff and paid about $3700...We did half high and half low CPs though and had more BoKs. Unless you want some really exotic flowers, it shouldn't be much more than that. We had peonies, roses and hydrangea (lots of pics in my review...link in my profile).
