flower girl dress opinions please

Original post by HelenZ

Ok so we're going to order the BM dresses on Sunday (yippee!!!) and my 2 FG's who are both 2 1/2 years old right now will be coming.......some people said I should wait to order but I'm too paranoid and with 7 months to go, I want to order them now!

What do you think of these 2 dresses? I'm undecided on whether the sashes will be chocolate brown or a champagne color (depending whether I want them to match the BM dress or their sash).

Does it matter if the FG dress has pickups and my dress doesn't & neither does the BM dresses???

Here's the BM dress:

Here's one of the Jordan FG dresses I like (the pickups have rhinestones in them....so cute!!)- it has an organza skirt:

or this one- it has a tulle skirt:

Both of the girls will be 3 (just about) at the wedding- I like them both- I don't know which one to pick!!

# 1 is really cute and I have two flower girls around the same age and we just ordered them in the middle of January...just order a little bigger and either they will grow into it or you have to get it hemmed a little bit

My FG dresses are white and pink and my girls dresses are brown with a little but of pink I think it will accent it well!

thanks!! yeah I spoke to both of the mom's and they said the girls are wearing 3T now, so they both want to order a 4T and just get it altered if need be. It seems like both of them just want to order it at the same time as the BM dresses so they don't have to make another trip later.....especially since I'm going through Bridal Elegance, and most of us are in Queens, its not exactly around the corner!! lol And also FSIL has 2 kids AND a full time job......she' s the last person I want to inconvenience!!

definitely number 1. Spaghetti straps on a 3 year old are just... wrong. I agree that they'll probably fall all over the place, and they're just too old. At least wait until the girls grow boobs before you start showing them off!

I don't think you really need to have boobs to wear spaghetti straps lol!!! But I guess it does have an older look to it......I was just thinking that #1 looks restrictive around the neck.....but overall I'm leaning towards #1 anyway- I've seen it in person and its adorable!

Helen, you picked virtually the same dresses as me!! You're getting the taffeta version of the Bill Levkoff dress, I'm getting satin. AND the first FG dress with pickups- that's my FG dress! GREAT choices!

OMG!!! that's too funny!! we have the same taste!! what color are you doing for the sash on the FG's? and will it be a white dress or ivory? just curious. I was looking at Jordan's site, and I'm actually looking at the mocha (shown in pictures above), chocolate, or champagne sashes- I think I'm just going to decide on the spot at Bridal Elegance, or see what the FG's moms think. great taste Tara!!!

Gooood question there- definitely going with a navy sash. But...I am totally stumped on the color of the dress! I'm not sure how yellow-ish the ivory is. My dress is diamond white, so if I go with white for her dress, not sure if it's gonna look weird. When my other niece wore Jordan as a FG, she wore ivory and it was pretty dark, but it was a different dress and fabric so who knows.

LOVE the mocha!!!

When we were last at Bridal Elegance, I don't think they had that dress to try on...hopefully she does by now! Let us know how it works out! We're heading there later this week to order the FG and Jr BM dresses too!

that's good to know that the ivory was kind of dark, but since my dress is ivory I definitely can't do white, I don't want to look 'dirty' next to them lol!!!! The organza overlay should also make it look lighter, since it's not like a satin ivory skirt (which would understandably be darker).....if I were you, I'd probably go with the white, so it doesn't look funny next to your dress.

I didn't realize Phyllis doesn't have that dress in the store. Hopefully she has a Jordan FG dress (any style) so they can at least put that on to get a feel for their size range. I'll definitely let you know how it goes tomorrow!! Oh and if you need to see the FG dress in person, I saw it at the bridal salon in Macy's of Manhasset. I wish I had time to bring the girls there before tomorrow to see it.....but I don't think that's going to happen!

I don' t think it matters that the FG dress has pickups or not, just pick the one you like better. However, I really think you should wait. What if you buy the dresses and the week before you find out that one doesn't fit? Children, especially toddlers, grow in spurts. It could be a waste of money. There will still be FG dresses five months from now. My wedding is in June and I'm not ordering my FG and youngest jr BM dresses until April--which is fine according to the company I'm using. But, obviously, it's up to you. I just wouldn't want the stress of having to alter or get new FG dresses right before the wedding.

My dress is ivory too, and I'm having a navy sash for my FG, as the BMs are in navy. Since I didn't want to worry about the FG's dress matching or not, I'm having it in my other color: a very pale yellow called 'buttercream.' Next to my gown it will look yellow, not dirty. A colored dress might not go with your scheme though, or maybe you really want her dress to match yours. I really like FGs in colored dresses--and my wedding isn't very formal, so that's part of it too.

I think #1 is PERFECT the way it is...coloring and all. It compliments the BP dresses and it dosen't matter if they have pick ups. I think bc they are smaller that you should have something that stands out a little more.

My girls are wearing Navy but the FG dresses are white and pink with a pink bow and little pink florettes on the bottom.

Helen, here's the closest representation of the ivory FG color.. like I said my niece wore ivory when she was an FG a year & a half ago....I have lots of pics but most of the pics look alot more washed out - this is the closest I've found to what it looks like in person....by the way that's FH teasing her in that pic, she just woke up after passing out at the reception!

#1. However, I would say to wait a bit longer to order the dresses. 7 months is a long time for babies to grow.

i agree. i'm getting married a month before you and i'm waiting to buy my FG's dress till May/June.

Here's another pic I forgot about- since Ashley is next to Darth Vader (my nephew Tommy), it might be a truer representation. Granted, the fabric is different.
