So, I thought I had my color scheme for the flowers all planned out. I was so sure I wanted to go with a fall pallete - oranges, yellows and green. No red, no pink. I was seriously convinced that this is what I wanted. Well, to make a long story short, we went to see a sample of our centerpiece last night and I hate it (the pic is in my flowers album)
It's not really the florist's fault - although, he did do some things that I never asked for.
Sure enough, I get home and I'm looking at the pics we took of the sample and I'm also checking out pics of flowers on line and I find a bouquet whose colors I would absolutely love as a centerpiece and sure enough - it's got red and pink in it - colors I swore I didn't want.

And not only have I changed my mind about the colors, but I also don't like our stand anymore and I'm not even sure I want to do a high centerpiece anymore.
My poor florist. He's going to think I'm freakin' nuts. My FH already thinks so!

Well I have to admit that I like the pic in the post better than the CP in the album but I think it is moreso because of the types of flowers than the color...the callas and stuff look much more lush and elegant compared to the CP which looks a little straggly (IMO of course )...but the point is I think you can still achieve the overall look reagrdless of what colors you use...
And hey, better to change your mind now than look back at your pics forever and be unhappy, right?

You should get what you want. Don't be afraid to change your mind. I am the same way. I swore that I didn't want any pinks or creams in my bo-k, but now all the pics I am drawn to have those colors. I also think that the colors in your sample CP are nice ones, but I am not crazy about some of the flower choices. You could ask to see a sample that has different flowers but the same color scheme. Just a thought

I LOVE cala lillies. I'm so bummed about how expensive they are. I'm hoping the florist can come up with some flowers that come in the same colors and textures as cala lillies. I know there are tons of roses that will work. It's funny, I wanted to stay away from roses because I thought they were so over-done at weddings, but now it looks like that's what I'll end up with since everything else I like is so expensive.
I'm realizing that my tastes exceed my budget and it totally *****.

I'm not trying to push my taste on you but what about something like AutmBride's CPs...I know they were low but they were stunning and only had a bit of red, a bit of roses, and no callas

Me too. I have changed my flowers a few times already. I have emailed back and forth b/c I love the idea - flower names and pictures are thrown at me...and I don't think I have time to visualize and make a real decision, so I just say to the florist - ok, sounds good, i think.
Then I get home and try to envision and find pictures of it on the internet. Once I see it all realized...I realize...EW. I don't want that.
So you aren't the only one.
I'm going to see my sample centerpiece on Sunday...and well...not sure how the heck it is going to look.
I expect changes.

I am using the same florist as you are. I would have to agree with you. I don't really care for the sample he made you. I really like the bouquet that you picked out though. That is something that I noticed about this particular florist though.. their centerpieces have a tendancy to look a little mossy and twigy for my taste. I mostly like a tight bouquet of pure flowers and not too much greenery. Don't feel bad about changing your mind. Good luck!

hey you know what this is your wedding....if you change your mind oh well you are paying for it! that was my problem in the begining with my bm dresses, the more i looked the more i liked! stick with you fave flowers and color themes. and good luck!

Dude! You have almost 11 months before your wedding--plenty of time to change your mind, work w/your florist and make sure you get what you want. I LOVE the photo in your post. I was thinking fall colors too, but don't want it to be too 'typical fall'. Your CP looks more 'typical fall' to me. Did you show pics to your florist?

I know. I have so much time. I'm totally nuts.
I just wanted to get a couple of things done by the holidays because come spring and summer - my work gets really crazy and I won't have as much time to devote to wedding planning. I thought if I could at least get the colors down, the dresses and other stuff would be a lot easier to deal with.

Oh and I did show the florist some pics, but they weren't like the one above, so again, I don't blame him totally, but then again, he really didn't give me what I wanted originally either.
He put all that white stuff in it and I never even asked for white. And so much green hanging type things! ugh. I showed it to a florist friend of the family and she said alot of it was filler and very cheap.
I've now asked him to give me an itemized list of everything he's giving us so I know exactly what he's charging us for. The original contract was so vague.

If you want to change your mind, do it! You are not crazy! Heck, I saw my sample cp and wound up changing almost everything about it!!
I think what's throwing me off is all the white in the cp. If he changed all the white flowers to oranges and burgandies, you might like it a lot better.

That's exactly what I thought when I saw some of his samples all over the showroom... that I do not like that mossy, twigy filler look. Yeah, it's cheap filler but my quote was not cheap. Good luck & FM me if you need to. I'm sure I will be FMing you throughout 2007 being that we have some of the same vendors!!

Tell me about it! For what we're paying, you'd think I'd get more than a few roses and a daisy. Hopefully, the next one will be better, but we're probably not going to be able to see it until next year some time.
I'm debating going back to Spitz & Peck, but I think it would be worse. To be quite honest, this 'two florist only' thing at the Royalton really *****.
