FMIL
Sorry girls, I just have to vent about this... FH's Mom was talking about FH's brother's wedding and said, 'Oh FH's brother's fiance's Mom is only giving them $15,000 to put towards their wedding and that's not nearly enough'... And I said 'Well, you could totally get a reception hall for that much - I think Eastwind was pretty reasonable in their pricing.' (that's where future Brother in law and his girlfriend want to have it)And his Mom was like 'oh yeah, but they'd have to do it on a cheap day like a Friday night for that price'...
AND OUR wedding is on a FRIDAY night! I was so insulted. If she has a problem with the day / time of our wedding SHE should contribute the freaking extra $$$$. I'm sorry -My Mom is paying for the entire reception and having it on a Friday night just wasn't a big deal to us! FMIL hasn't given us anything beyond an engagement gift and she is paying for the limo.
I'm NOT asking for anything from her, BUT if you have a problem with the way we're doing things, keep it to yourself if you don't want to CONTRIBUTE anything!!!!

Re: FMIL
You're lucky you're getting the LIMO! We got NOTHING! My FMIL is THE cheapest woman you will ever meet.I am having my wedding on a Friday night, and usually it's the ppl you are not so close to that would complain about when a wedding is. IGNORE HER.
I have been to many Friday night weddings, and once I am there, I couldn't tell the damn difference. Friday, Monday, whenever, a wedding is a wedding, and whoever wants to make the best of it, WILL. Otherwise, forget the complainers.

Re: FMIL
Breath deep ignore her. or just yes her to death. my fils dont know anything about weddings especially around ny. they are from spain and they are older. they are not contributing there are only 6 people in there entire family.as for the friday night wedding not only is it cheaper only by a bit but the minimums are alot lower for those nights.

Re: FMIL
Thanks so much for your support & the advice!!!
We are doing it the day after Thanksgiving because we figured most people have off that day. My brother got married on a Thursday night in the city, and they barely had any 'No's'! I figure if people can get to the city on a Thursday, they can drive somewhere on Long Island on a Friday night!!!
Thanks so much girls!!!

Re: FMIL
Friday night has become an extremely popular night for weddings. - And lately not significantly less money than Saturday.....I know there's not that huge of a price range b/t Fri/Sat w/ my hallDon't let FMIL get to you - maybe she's just old school and clueless about what things cost and how things are actually done in 2004
