at first he didn't believe me cause I wouldn't tell him, her being his mother and all, and I would explode from keeping it bottled up for so long... then after we moved in together, he finally began seeing it for himself...then one day, we were all out one night and he pulled me over held my hand and her hand and told her to look at me and when she did he said, now look at me, and then she looked at him and he said, 'you see this woman, I love her and I'm going to marry her, and there's nothing you can do or say about it, so live with it'

Thanks hun.. yeah, now I just put her in her place if she needs to be..

I know she loves me and it took her a while to realize that her son would grow up and get married you know.. but she just got ridiculous..

today, she's my biggest fan.. lol who would of thought, but I'm not as stupid as I was before to keep my mouth shut..

and about the Spanish thing, it was soo stupid you know.. she didn't come out and say it but the things she would say said it loud and clear..

I get the same thing SOMETIMES...

Doreen (his mother ) says oh Ron couldn't you have married a nice IRISH girl.. I said What is wrong with SICILIANS... Jealous that we age better and take care of our men better and COOK better then anyone YOU Know.. Plus I don't need any man to support me. Unlike all of your sisters. (ahem!)

She has passed a Few comments and I let nothing slide.. Hey get use to it.. He is with me.. Not marrying MommY!!!

My MIL has come around alot since we got married. We all spent thanksgiving together and she got me a gift and called the next day to tell me how beautiful things were. Even called for my bday this past weekend. I will never warm up to her for all of the garbage she did to me during my planning but at least the holidays wont be a nightmare for us of who is going where and who isnt going there.

Wow! marcella- Your story is making me shut up about my own situation. What an unbelievable man your FI is to say that to her and totally stand up for you. What you said made me giggle- about making you stare at pics of pretty ex-girlfriends. Remember that movie Meet the Parents--- DeNiro did the same with his daughter... I would have been like 'Get the F out of here!!!'

Then I kick myself for not standing up more!

I could write a BOOK on the garbage this woman has said/done in the last 6 months. And the sad thing is, FMIL is in heaven -- this is FstepMIL!!!!!! FH agrees with me 100%, but is VERY intimidated by his dad and his stepmonster.

Thanks guys.. it's not bad anymore but it's amazing how f'd up it is you know?? although she has changed soo much within the past 6 months or so.. it's like I can't trust her or what she says you know? I guess she's made me paranoid...

Luckily for me FI has three older sisters, two of which are married. I am the only giril in my family, so FMIL knows the old idea that when it comes to wedding planning, FMIL should just 'wear beige and be quiet!'. But seriously, she has been great. No pushy suggestions at all. Just pure excitement to come to NY for the wedding.

Wow ddunne23, you're so lucky... unfortunately, like the other girls who have posted I have accumulated so many horror stories of my own from my fmil that I could write a book.
