Ok Guys... I post these randomly when fmil does something that is so insane i think its worth mentioning.
Fh and I get flowers from her today. They say congratulations on your engagement. I say to fh we have been engaged for five months... why is she sending them now??? I call her to say thank you and she says to me I wasnt going to send you anything because you were so rude to me. I said How was i rude to you.. she says you never called me to say thank you for the ring. I say You did not buy the ring for me why would i thank you?????? Her comment.... ' I gave you my son who bought the ring for you and the same way you thanked him you should thank me for the ring and thank me for giving you the perfect man' then she hung up the phone. FH was laughing hysterically and now referring to himself as the perfect man all day.

omg i dont know how i would have answered to that!!
But my FIL's are Romanian. They moved to America 29 yrs ago and speak fluent english and romanian...as well as FH (he was born in America obviously lol- he's only 21)
but i dont get some of their traditions or views on things-- FFIL tells me everytime he sees me that we should wait we are young- we are waiting almost 3 yrs to get married (got engaged 10/06 marrying 5/09) but he was also telling his 30 yr old son to wait to get married (he just got married this past Aug) I dont know but i think 30 is not too young to get married
And the best thing my FH's grandmother told FBIL's wife that she was going to pick out her bridal party when she got married and dont worry cause she was going to pick out mine too!!
WHAT??????
well needless to say- that didnt happen with FSIL and wont happen with ME!!

yeah hehe- i felt bad for chris's SIL she was in tears over it cause his grandma was kinda mean about it...
and its weird cause usually she is so nice and funny- guess weddings bring out the bad side of people!!

Just a thought...FH has known his mother a lot longer than you, and he seems to get that she's more than a little unwell. Thank God! And, since the relatives of crazy people can learn to be very resourceful, I bet he has all sorts of ways of dealing with her that he can let you in on

You know what? Maybe it's catty...but if it got to the point where I couldn't take it anymore I'd pull out the 'your attitude towards me NOW will dictate your relationship with your grandkids in the FUTURE.'
