FMIL & Dress shopping....

When you ladies go/are going dress shopping, do you also bring FMIL? Just curious.

I didn't, I went with my mom, sister and my best friend. After I got my dress I sent FMIL pictures of it.

You are not obligated to but I invited my FMIL because I wanted her to get to meet my mother and sisters but she was sick when I went and couldn't make it.

I brought my Mom and my Aunt with me the first time, then the 2nd time brought my Mom, my Aunt and FMIL back to see the dress (still hadn't ordered it), but then ordered it the third time I went back. Basically, I wanted to include FMIL somehow but not the first time I went dress shopping, so I brought her when I pretty much had made up my mind on the dress...

I didn't, but my mom did come with me.

For me, I didn't want to take FMIL because we had an issue before about me wearing a wedding gown and not an Indian sari for the wedding. So I didn't really want her to start up that entire argument again if I invited her dress shopping. And I also didn't want her to see my dress because she would probably tell everyone what it looked like.

Some people take their FMIL with them, there's nothing wrong with it.

I still have a long time before I go Dress shopping, but I agree with May2010 Bride. I would bring my FMINL for maybe the last fitting so she can feel included.

I would have but FMIL lives in Ohio so that was out.

Now I'm not so sure it was a terrible thing because when I went to visit and offered to show her the dress she told me 'Yes, but later...I'm busy now' She was clipping coupons and never asked to see it after that.

Re: FMIL & Dress shopping....

I didn't bring FMIL with me. I only brought my mom and my two sisters.

But, I showed FMIL the pic of the two dresses I was deciding between and asked for her opinion. I will also ask her to join me at my first fitting. Unfortunately I can't even take her to see the dress until the first fitting because Lillette's doesn't actually have it in stock and it's not coming in until March.
