When you ladies go/are going dress shopping, do you also bring FMIL? Just curious.

I didn't, but my mom did come with me.
For me, I didn't want to take FMIL because we had an issue before about me wearing a wedding gown and not an Indian sari for the wedding. So I didn't really want her to start up that entire argument again if I invited her dress shopping. And I also didn't want her to see my dress because she would probably tell everyone what it looked like.
Some people take their FMIL with them, there's nothing wrong with it.
I'm in the same boat. Haven't shopped yet - my mom and sister live in Florida - but I won't be taking my FMIL along with me for the same exact reasons you noted.

Re: FMIL & Dress shopping....
I absolutely love my FMIL and want her there for dress shopping. She also expressed that she want nothing more than to be there since she has no daughters and will never get to do this. My mom concurred.

Re: FMIL & Dress shopping....
I was planning on brining FMIL bc FH is an only child. But she decided to tell us that this was not about us but about family (specifically hers) so I will def. not be taking her.

Re: FMIL & Dress shopping....
DH's mom passed away so I didn't have that issue myself but my sister had a HUGE issue with her MIL because she didn't invite her.
I would ask your FH if he thinks she wants to go (or if it's important to him that she be there) to avoid issues. But it's ultimately up to you who you want to bring with you.

Re: FMIL & Dress shopping....
I brought FMIL with my mom, aunt and sis. She didn't get the chance to go with the other daughter inlaws, and she is like my second mom, so I totally wanted her there!

Re: FMIL & Dress shopping....
So when I went shopping I just went with my mom and my sister. However when I found the one, right before buying it, my mom said it would be best (she is big on etiquette) to invite my FMIL.
My FMIL came to my final try on before we purchased the dress but I am keeping it a secret from everyone else. The BMs are the only others who will see a picture of it.
