FOCCUS Anyone?

We're going over the results of our FOCCUS Pre-Cana exam this week.

Any thoughts on what I should expect? We're meeting with a retired couple.

We're going over ours tomorrow night. All my friends who are already married said it is really boring. I really don't feel comfortable discussing my relationship with strangers but we have no choice.

When do you start Pre-Cana? Are you doing the 5 weeks, 2 Saturdays or the weekend retreat?

We are doing the 5 weeks starting in Januray. They had very limited choices and the 2 Saturday option started in June, I didn't think that would be good devoting 2 whole Saturdays the month before the big event.

I am going to FOOCCUS tomorrow and then after have PreCana and we have to do that for a month, I think?

I feel funny discussing my relationship too. I'd rather talk to our parents. Both have been happily married for a LONG time!

I think we start Pre-Cana in January/February. They said it would be 6 months before the wedding and it will last 6 weeks. The first and last sessions are done at the church and the middle four are done with a couple. FH coaches a spring varsity sport so we have to get it done before he starts.

how long ago did you take it...we took ours in June and still haven't heard from them?! maybe Ishould call! yikes!

We took it the FIRST WEEKEND OF JULY. They just called us. Go figure, we just went back to work (we're teachers) and now that things are busy they finally call.

what is FOCCUS? is that precana??

It's a 156 question survey that you and FH take. They compare your responses (agree/disagree/uncertain) and you discuss them after.

oh ok...so I should be ok...for now. if i don't hear from them I will call in a few eeks

My parents are divorced but FIL have been married forever and we talk to them a lot.

I can't imagine what difference Pre-cana will make because at this point I feel like I know everything about FH. We have been together for 6 years!!!

Well when I get back I will post and let everyone know how it went.

We just did our FOCCUS last Sunday. I am so uncomfortable with pre-cana. First off, my family (mom especially) is very involved with the church. My brother and I were Alter Servers, I've been in and out of the Choir my entire life, I've been an assistant teacher at Religious Ed. My mom has been the secretary for the Religious Ed and the Rectory. She's been a lector, a Rel Ed teacher, in and out of the choir, and currently she's a eucharistic minister. To top it off, she taught the RCIA class where the Deacon who is leading the class converted!!!

I know it is confidential, but man there is just too much in it to make me uncomfortable.

taking the actual test was easy, it asks questions you would expect to be asked and then some that were really weird. Like the nudity questions!!

I can't wait to see how its going to be going over such questions!!

Nudity question You're scaring me!

Its not so bad but its kind of funny. After FH and I were done (they seperate you to take it) we were hysterical laughing about the questions. I'm scared of going over teh results with strangers!!

You go over them publicly? I thought they just kind of gave you the results to discuss amoung yourselves.

I have no idea. I will find out tomorrow night.

AT my church we were given the results and then told to find a place in the church to discuss our answers with our fh. No one but me and my fh knew the results of the FOCCUS.
