Does anyone know who to contact to donate any extra food that is left from the cocktail hour, etc?

There are health ordinances that will not allow you to do that. Too much liability. Your hall will probably not want to take that risk.

I know it's a shame to waste the food.

I remember that it said this somewhere in my contract though. What you can do is buy those alluminum containers and have the hall staff pack them up with all the leftovers. You can have a family member pick them up and bring them to a shelter. They accept food donations. Let me know if you need a number. I work for a homeless shelter!
