Foodies Needed!!!!

Ok, so we have our date at the Inn at NHP. Love the place, went yesterday for our tasting, loved everything...

Leave it to ONE 'friend' to tell me that the CH food there was great but the dinner food was 'inedible.' That the 'steak was potroast and the fish wasn't fresh.' Also apparently her friend wanted red velvet cake and got chocolate.

Pleeeease, if any of you have been to the Inn for a wedding and are EXTREMELY critical about food, please let me know what you thought. BE HONEST! Thank you all!!!

I haven't been there and haven't heard anything bad about the food - but do a search in The Brides Review for it and see what the recent reviews have said. Good luck!

I haven't heard anything bad about the Inn's food! Did you have your tasting yet? Just out of curiosity - what is your friends situation? Is she generally catty or jealous? I'm just thinking this could have something to do with it . . .

I'm not concerned at all - and am booked with the Inn! We are total foodies. Had our tasting and have been to dinner there otherwise. The food is amazing!!

I have never been there for a wedding but anyone who has been there raves about it. I don't think they would serve food that wasn't fresh. I don't think you should worry. There will always be a few people that complain and can't be pleased.

i've never been there, but no matter what RH you pick, there will always be people who will have negative things to say about it... cant please everyone. as long as u liked the place and food thats all that matter!

I AM a foodie and I have been to a wedding there and the food was great...dinner and all...I am highly critical when it comes to wedding food too but I could not find a thing wrong with the food at the inn....
The wedding was over a yr ago, and I can not remember what I ordered for dinner, but rest assured, my entire table was happy with their food...

I was at a wedding there about a month ago. I have cooked in four star resturants, I am very critical of food. The cocktail hour & the dinner were very good. I had a porterhouse steak for dinner. I like my steak medium rare, it was served to me hot & a perfect medium rare. There was nothing I did NOT like about The New Hyde Park Inn. Wherever you got your infomation from................they are off the mark!

I am definitely a food snob and I went to a wedding there a year ago and the food was incredible. I had the stuffed chicken and it was so good. You really have nothing to worry about.

um honestly they use to have a bad reputation on the food! but that was when it was the NHP inn, not the inn at NHP!! i live right across the street from the growing up so ive been there for a lot of functions! dont stress it! it is 100% not what it use to be! your friend prob just heard from someone who has been there a long time ago!

I had my sister's bridal shower at the Inn, and the food was outstanding. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I posted a mini-review of the Inn after I attended a wedding and it was GREAT..not just the CH, but the reception. FH's family and I were raving about it and FSIL said it was the best sea bass she ever had. Seriously, we all loved it.

I can tell you from experience at my own wedding that the food was excellent!!! My DH family is a huge Italian family when food is everything and they still can not stop talking about how great the food was. I didnt really get a chance to eat much at the wedding, but the Inn wrapped everything up for me and I enjoyed the food the next day. Also, you tell the person that told you the steak was pot roast! Um, it's a porter house steak and no other hall is able to offer that, cause the chef actually made an oven of their own that allows them to cook so many.

DO NOT WORRY about the food. If your wedding is at the Inn, you have nothing to worry about!!!!!!!! You made an excellent decision. I would do it all over again!

Also the cake is made by a recommended bakery, so the Inn really dosent make it. I asked for a red velvet cake and got it.

I've been to a surprise party there and the food (including dinner) was outstanding. I have a wedding to go to there in December so I will let you know if anything changed but I highly doubt it. I had someone tell my mom the food at my sister in law shower was horrible but I loved it and we got soo many complements after the party.

I think its important to remember you cant make everyone happy and maybe your friend likes crappy food. LoL sorry

I am super critical of food and I think the food at 99% of RH I have been to are mediocre at best.

The Inn was definitely not mediocre - - I had the duck, it was super delicious!
