For all you Computer saavy brides (ESPECIALLY with MS Word)....

I want to start printing the envelopes for my invites.

I know how to do a mail merge from Excel into Word. My question is.. Can I do a mail merge printing out envelopes rather than labels??? I understand I have to feed the printer 1 x 1 but does anyone have complete directions on the most easiest ( & foul-proof ) way to do this??

They need to come out with a 'Printing out your own envelopes for dummys' book.

Here's what I did:

I went to 'page setup' and set up the paper like:

height XYZ
widthy XYZ
landscape/portrait
margin's...

then, I put each address on a different page and printed the entire guestlist out, on each envelope.

my directions are probably terrible, but if you want, I can help you out...I'll print the envelopes for you as long as you have the addresses in MS Word...

Unfortunately I don't have complete instructions on how to do this, but when you go to 'Tools' then 'Letters and Mailings' then 'Mail Merge' you should get about 5 different options - Letters, envelopes, labels, etc. Choose Envelopes then set up the correct dimensions. I don't know if that was much help...sorry...

Thank you Christine. I totally understand your directions. I figured that it was the way to do it - I'm going to do a few trial runs on blank paper before I try printing on the actual envelopes. How long did it take you?

This is how we're doing it. And I def recommend the trial runs on paper that's the size of your envelopes, it'll help you determine the font size and the proper positioning. Good luck!!

Seriously, we had about 120 invitations...and it took no more than an hour between set up and printing...
