Are you guys booking a hotel room after the reception to kick off your honeymoon? FH and I want to stay in a hotel room and the following day leave for Hawaii, but we're finding that the rooms are very expensive...Any suggestions, should we just stay at our home (we share the bottom floor of my mom's house, which we don't mind but ugh! ) Any recommendations in the Queens/LGA/JFK neighborhood?

Re: For brides living w/ FH
FH & I own a condo together but for our wedding night we want to stay at a hotel. We are also throwing an after-party for some of our OOT guests and anyone who wants to stay at the hotel. I know the bridal suites are very pricey but i did not want to come back to the bedroom i sleep in every night.
HTH...

Re: For brides living w/ FH
me and FH were going to book a room but the rooms were like over 300 and we would be getting there after 1 in the morning and leaving at 5. a.m. I didnt feel like wasting 300 bucks for 4 hours.
So we are going back to our apartment

We're planning on it but haven't booked a hotel yet. Have you checked the Crowne Plaza JFK? I think their rates are less than $200 for a standard room.

Re: For brides living w/ FH
We decided to hold off on the because we didn't want to leave our daughter, so yes we are booking a room for the night. FH wanted to go back to his parents being that our reception ends at 6pm but I nip that ASAP, we're booking a room at a hotel near the RH and a few of our closest friends will stay also. I did make sure that the hotel had a bar/lounge and a pool though.

We plan to stay at the hotel. We think it'll feel more special than coming home to our house. Plus, parents might do a brunch at the hotel the morning after.

We live together in PA so we don't really have an option but to stay over in a hotel night of (hotel nearby RH), and then we're driving back day after and leaving for HM on 16th,
Id say stay out if ya can, its nice to have a space to yourself and be out of your normal environment on a night like that!

Re: For brides living w/ FH
Our wedding is on a Friday night and we are not leaving for our HM until Sunday night, so we have decided to stay at the Garden City Hotel after the reception. We booked it a year in advance so it was less expensive than it is now!

We're staying at a hotel - the RH gives the bride and groom a free room!

funny you should mention this because it just occured to me...FH and I have a hotel for the wedding night, but we didn't get one for the night after (we leave the Monday after our wedding). I guess we'll have to shack up at my mom's place the night before we leave for HM! I don't think she knows this!! It might be packed in there cuz my uncle and his wife will probably be staying there too...oy.

Yes, FH and I will be staying at a hotel that evening, because we are renting an appartment from FH parents (their basement) we wanted a place of our own that evening.

We're staying in the nearby hotel the night after only because we have a brunch the next morning nearby. If I were in your situation, I would save the money and go home.
