FH's father died when he was 10, so we are dedicating our marriage ceremony to him. We will include him in other areas as well.
His mom is going to find out which bagpipers and drummers were at his funeral (he was a Nassau cop) and see if we can get them to play. Something like that would absolutely stun him. I am getting him photo cufflinks with his father's picture on it too.
I want to surprise him by doing something incredibly touvching in memory of his dad.

Re: For brides with FH's who've lost a parent...
I'm so glad you posted this. I have been thinking about it a lot lately. FH's mom passed away when we were in college and I really want to make sure her memory is incorporated. I'm going to put out a lot of family pictures that include her and somehow I want her mentioned in the ceremony. I'd love other ideas too!

We are having my grandmother, my best friend and his uncle mentioned during the wedding mass and at our reception we are going to have a table set up with their pictures surrounded by candles with a sign that says, 'In Loving Memory'

My grandfather (the man who raised me) passed a few years back. We are going to have a locket on my flowers with his picture and I want to use two of his shirts to make the ring pillow....this way its as if he is walking us down the asile!

i haven't lost a parent but my grandfather, to whom i was VERY close, passed on 10/19/07. I will have a bo-q memory charm, a table w/ candle, and i think i'm leaving a seat open for him.

FH's father passed 10 years ago, so (i think) we are going to light a memorial candle for him during our ceremony and have pictures displayed on our memorial table at the reception. Im debating on whether or not I should have the singer sing Amazing Grace while lighting the candle since I think that will jsut make everyone ball.

I havent decided yet what I am going to do to honor my dad. Possibly a memorial candle or a nice upbeat song.
i dont want the guests to get sad, I'd rather them remember my dad the way they knew him instead of getting upset.

My FH is the same way. His dad and uncle both passed away from heart attacks, so we are definitely doing a donation in their honor as our favor. But FH doesn't want anything else because he thinks it will make everyone sad and he wants everyone to remember his dad by being happy
