for July brides...
Where are you going on your honeymoon?I thought we were all set to go to Bermuda, but after I found out the cost, I almost threw up!
Travel agent said it's $8000+ for a couple and that does NOT include food.
Is it me, or is that really expensive? I don't really want to spend that kind of money.
Can you all suggest something else?
I think I'd rather have something all-inclusive with activites, etc. rather than Bermuda which is a much older crowd and there could possibly be kids there (which I wouldn't be happy about)
What about us being in the Caribbean during hurricane season? Do you also think that some travel agents try to push certain things b/c it's a honeymoon? I called one agency and I said I wanted to book a 'trip' and she said 'Wait a second, is this a honeymoon?' and I said 'Yes' and she said 'OH, OH, OH! That's a TOTALLY different ballgame!' ***...IT IS???!!! I felt like she was going to rip me off after that b/c she started saying I should have everything 'top of the line'. VERY ANNOYING! I don't want to pay an extra $1000 to have rose petals thrown all over my bed, thank you!
Suggestions????
Thanks a bunch!
PS. Non-July brides can help, too!!

Man I agree with you and we ran into the same problem. I really think they do rip you off when you say honeymoon. check out this travelsite you can also call too the number is on the site... they have the best low prices I have seen it is called www.travelbyjen.com Excellent all my other friends used them to book their honeymoon and got great deals for Sandals better than other places which quotes them for astronomical prices. Shoot go to the florist before you go and bring your own rose petals!!Mine is a surprise so I am not sure where we are going but I do know he used this site and called and spoke to a travel agent and she was awesome.

Re: for July brides...
I am going to Costa Rica for ten days. It is the rainy or green season, but I have been there before and it will typically rain for like an hour in the late afternoon each day and then stop. This happens in the Caribbean too. Anyway, for ten days at an amazing all inclusive resort plus airfare and rental car we are paying a little over 4k for the two of us. CR is a beautiful, fun, and safe country and if you or your FI is into watersports, or adventure sports, it is the best place. It has great beaches too!

Re: for July brides...
We're actually doing a Mediterranean Cruise & then a week in Ireland. Our mentality was we're going to start trying for a familiy as soon as we come home & this will be our last huge trip in MANY years....I'm sure you can find someplace that is all inclusive at a more reasonable rate than Bermuda.....
What about a cruise w/ a few days somplace at the beginning/end?
Good luck!!!

Re: for July brides...
$8k for bermuda?? You could go to Tahiti for that price!!! Have you looked into Aruba, Hawaii or Cabo? I think you're pretty safe with the weather at these locations in July.

Re: for July brides...
First I would find a new travel agent. That is nuts! We are going to Hawaii. The problem i think you may run into now though is that July is coming really quickly and prices have probably already been elevated for the travel season. I LOVE Cozumel, Mexico. They have a lot of all inclusive resorts and the price should be more affordable than that. Good luck! Keep us posted.

Re: for July brides...
We are going to Sandals Regency St. Lucia for 8days and 7 nights and then San Juan, PR for 4 days and 3 nights. We used Liberty Travel in St. James and they were great. We went slightly (I'm being modest) over budget but because we added stuff, like butler service and a better room at Sandals and then we wanted a more trendy, chic place in SJ.You can definitely have a beautiful honeymoon on a budget. My suggestion to you is to do a little reasearch online and get quotes from the big online travel places, so when you do walk into a TA they don't see you as fresh meat.
Good Luck.
