I am not sure if this was a topic already but... Are there any major regrets/mistakes that you want to make sure current brides don't make?
Please share :)

The only regrets I have were 1- not having a back up / action plan on photos if the weather turned out to be gross out. We had our reception at Chateau La Mer and I was banking on all the family photos being outside. UNTIL we got there and the fog rolled in!! So our family photos were rushed and we ended up having them on the stairs which are ok, but I should have thought about another location should the weather not cooperate.
2- I also wouldnt have gotten so drunk that I didnt care about anything but having fun LOL. There were some family tables I didnt get to take photos with or see to much because I was all over the place and your getting pulled in so many directions, being slightly sober I would have had some more control than just going with the flow lol.
Other than these regrets I had a grand ol' time :)
PS: I was sober and still getting pulled in a million directions and just went with the flow... sober or drunk, theres really not much you can change about that so dont feel bad!

Oh and about bridal parties.
Usually those people that you end up putting in for purposes of 'doing the right thing' or appeasing someone else (usually a family member) or just to be nice... they don't work out. Those are usually your 'dead weight' bridal party members. Go with your gut and don't listen to anyone else. don't even bother putting them in. Trust me... they probably don't really care about being in it at all anyway.
You want to ONLY have those that ARE close to you AND care a lot about you! If it's super small and you just have 2 or 3 REALLY fabulous people... so be it!! It's a lot better than having 8 or so girls who most of them couldn't care less about being there.
The bridal party really comes into play more on the year of your wedding and increasingly so as the day approaches. So don't pick your BP when you first get engaged. WAIT!! things change. Pick maybe a year ahead of the date. I wish I waited to pick my BP.
I really had some interesting BP members!!!! the things some of them did would shock you!!!!!
Kerri! I haven't seen you post on the wedding boards in a while... you should check out my menu post http://www.liweddings.com/chat/topic.aspx?ID=684240&Highlight=royalton ... I can't believe it's less than 2 months away! any advice as I get closer to the big day?
Oh HI you!! I'm going to check it out right now!!!!! I can't remember what we talked about already to give you advice!! but you are super close!! must be sooo exciting!!!!

idont have any regrets. we really saved up to get all the vendors we wanted and everything went relatively smooth the day of. i do regret my BP. like others said...wait!!
some advice i have is: -wiat to choose your BP and choose who you feel deserves to be there -if other people dont get your vision...stop telling them about it. this is your wedding not theirs...you do what you please. we had different ideas that werent traditional and we caught sh*t for it through the process but the day of...everyone loved it. ppsssh! -if you really want something...SAVE HARD for it. hopefully you are only doing this once so try hard to get what you want. - do not impulse book vendors. This is your WEDDING. its SERIOUS! do your research. meet with more than one vendor for each category. -go to your CH if you can. it will help get those hello's out of the way. -stay by your man's side. this is the day to celebrate the both of you and you should be sharing it together. try to stay with each other all night

Re: For Past Brides - any regrets or mistakes?
well my only big regret was our dj..ut htey had good revews so cant really do nothing about that
when u get your dress bustled in the salon double..tripe check its enough buttons to hold it up..my dress was heavy and we only had 3 and we asked shold we have more..they assured me no and 5 min into the reception it broke and i had to hold it up the whole night
bring ur must take photo list..i send it to the photogs and they got most but there were some shots def missed and if i had the list wth me i might have thought of them
get everythig in writing!!!!!!when we wnt to make our final payment we adde the candy buffet ..i asked them if it woul be refilled if it ran out..if not i would pay more..the assured me it would but never wrote it on my contract and sure enough day of it ran out and our maitre d refused to refill it
but my best advice would be to have fun...we had some bumps along the way but i thing i am most proud of is dh and i didnt let it get to us
we had the most amazing time and i would not change a single thing good or bad cause it was the best day of my life
so if something does go wrong..let it roll of ur shoulders cause the day goes by too fast
good luck to all you guys

i havent gotten my professional pics back yet, but i dont think there was a pic taken with me and my grandmother. and also i needed for everyone to be off the dance floor for our dance that we rehearsed. so it kinda threw us off, but apparently nobody could tell. no biggie, but still i wish we had told the mc to clear em off the dancefloor...

hey! i can't remember either lol :) definitely let me know about any 'insider' details i need to know about the day of at the Royalton... Gerard did a really good job outlining the timeline for the day of, but i still get nervous as to how everything will pan out just b/c i'm a perfectionist!
i am excited, but right now its stressful, b/c we're just waiting to hear back on who's coming. we have a lot of OOT people so just trying to coordinate with everyone is a major headache. it doesn't help that FH keeps stressing me out by making offers that he shouldn't be making, b/c quite honestly no matter how many times i tell him how it is, he never remembers anything!

That's some great advice... I keep running into the second problem that you mentioned :P

Re: For Past Brides - any regrets or mistakes?
Two big regrets:
(1) not having a bigger BP. I only had my best friend as my MOH and my SIL as my BM. I wish I had asked another close friend from college to join us. I had asked one hs friend but she was out of the country last summer and couldn't do it (she couldn't even come to the wedding). I loved the dresses I chose for my two girls so much and just wish I'd had more girls in them because the pictures would be even cuter.
(2) not being in the table shots with our guests and not insisting that all tables have table shots. I had asked our photographers to please do table shots, but when tables weren't seated, they skipped them. I'm actually missing three tables completely. And fortunately my dad is in some of the table shots with his friends, but we aren't in ANY table shots. That's really the only thing I wish was different. Our photographers were wonderful and they did a great job getting pictures of everyone, but I guess I really like the classic table shots.

I don't really have any regrets. The only piece of advice I can add to what others have already posted would be to designate someone to tell you when there's only about an hour or so left to the reception. The day goes VERY quickly and I was shocked when the band announced that it was the last song.
Also, if you have a must-take photo list, share it with a responsible member of the bridal party. My sister gave her must take list to the photog, but never gave it to me , even though I asked her about it. The photog missed a lot of pics that she wanted. She was so caught up with the day, that she didn't notice at the time. Having another set of eyes to keep track of whether she was getting the pics she wanted may have helped.

My FH read your post with me and said not to worry that I could check his watch the whole time.
Did I mention I'm marrying Flava-Flav?? :P

For the love of god... DO NOT go around to the tables during your reception... you will regret losing like an hour from your 4 hr party time... believe me... As for getting pics of each table, have your photographer do that.... mine didnt and im a bit pissed about it... I have tons of pics of the couples but not tables as a whole... **** am i going to do with 50 pics of just couples...
ETA: Forgot to say that you should greet your guests at CH or as they are exiting CH and entering the recpetion.... it will save soooo much precious time.... Im so mad I didnt do this... we missed most of our CH with pic taking and only got like 10 mins with our guests ... which is why i had to go around to the tables... what a freakin time killer... ugh can you tell how upset i am about that??? lol

LOL! DH was wearing a watch, but I just never thought to check it. I just had no concept of how much time had passed. When the band said it was the last song, I told DH to go yell at them for trying to end early. That's when he broke the news that it really was the end of the reception!

Re: For Past Brides - any regrets or mistakes?
wait don't you have to go to your guests tables at the reception? that totally stinks that it takes that long but i was told that if i didn't do this, my mother would have my head
