Re: For the millionth time...Maitre'D tipping question...

I think we gave him $300,We had 87 people including us.

We planned 200 for him & 200 for the bridal assistant, but we didn't have a bridal asssitant, so we took half of her $ & gave it to him, because he was wonderful.

$4 per person is soooo much. I think 2 is perfectly fine.

Re: For the millionth time...Maitre'D tipping question...

Our hall recommneded $3-4 per person and we gave $450 because we were not thrilled with the service.

Personally I think recommending tips is ridiculous but I guess it's the norm now.

Re: For the millionth time...Maitre'D tipping question...

And that is on top of the 18% that you already give them with the final bill?

For the millionth time...Maitre'D tipping question... - Long Island Weddings

I think you can round it up depending on the number of guests and the quality of service. Calculate it at $2 per pax.

For the millionth time...Maitre'D tipping question... - Long Island Weddings

My hall suggested $3-$5 per person. We gave $4 pp. our MD was wonderful and he deserved every penny! If we could have afforded it we would have gave more.

I agree!!! Tips should be for good service, not for just doing the service. You pay enough anyway for the wedding.

And I find it annoying that photographers want a tip before we get our pictures back. What if they suck? Also a photographer is a profession, not some service job so it's annoying that we are even expected to tip them. No one tips me for my job!
