How long before the wedding did you start your diets?
also...
Were you able to jump right in & start a whole new dieting routine, or did it take time for you to actually 'get into it'??

Re: For those dieting for the 'BIG DAY'
Right now i'm doing the three day diet. i know that I'll be having showers, bachelorette parties, luncheons, etc., so this diet is best for me because I'm only on it Tues, Wed, and Thurs.

Re: For those dieting for the 'BIG DAY'
I started in the beginning of January. It took me awhile to get into the routine of working out and eating right....it doesn't happen overnight. I've lost about 5 lbs.....5 more to go. I think it depends on how much weight you want to lose.....I tend to think it takes longer to lose weight if you don't have a lot to lose.

Yea what is the 3 day diet?
I've been doing a modified WW diet since January & lost 22 lbs so far, but have about 30 to go. I also allow myself to cheat totally 1 day.
I was able to get right into it b/c I set my mind on it. Although I have not begun the exercise part yet (I'll start rollerblading/walking & my Denise Austin tummy workout once the weather gets nicer).

Re: For those dieting for the 'BIG DAY'
I started 29 weeks prior to wedding. That's when I woke up after trying on dresses.
I am eating grilled chicken and steamed veggies. In 2 weeks I look a lot less bloated.

Re: For those dieting for the 'BIG DAY'
I am having a really hard time getting into a diet mode. I was on WW a few months ago and was doing well with it, then the holidays came.... I tried doing southbeach this weekend and CAN NOT do it, can't live without carbs. SO now maybe I'll go back to WW again... I need serious help.

Re: For those dieting for the 'BIG DAY'
The three day diet is a special 'detox diet' that is supposed to clean out your system and once you start eating right after those three days its supposed to speed up your metabolism. I didnt do it bc its disgusting...you cant have milk with your coffee etc...
Janie, to answer your question, I started doing it very gradually. First of all I started going to the gym everyday during my lunch hour...Im trying to incorporate whatever exercise I can into my everyday life. Also, I cut out soda, juices, bread and all those other bad carbs and I just started to eat healthy and more often but in smaller portions...so far I dropped 8lbs...22 more to go...I only have 6 months so during the summer I really have to become very active and burn it all off.

Re: For those dieting for the 'BIG DAY'
Pretty soon after I got engaged, I started watching what I ate. I knew it would take me a while to get on a program...and I lost about 20 lbs so far since my engagement. I'd like to lose 5 more before the big day...that may or may not happen in these next 4 weeks.
I kicked it into high gear 3 months out...going to the gym 4x per week and really watching what I ate. I'm a lot more toned than before and feel slimmer, evem though I haven't lost more than 5 lbs in 3 months, I've definitely lost inches.
It's tough, but so worth it when you put your gown on and they have to take it in! That was FUN.

Edited to add....I also keep a pic of my dress near my desk at work so I think about it everytime I want that snack around 3pm! It really does help me in deciding if I'm hungry or not.

Cindy, that's great. 22lbs since January is really awesome. Congrats. I had lost weight about 2 years ago but apparently gained about 15 back since last August. So I started again in January and I've lost 8 lbs. I should probably fit into my dress comfortably at this point, but I want to go back down to the original weight loss. Just 7 lbs. away.

Re: For those dieting for the 'BIG DAY'
I lost weight, but not necessarily for the wedding. I went to Weight Watchers and exercised at least 2x a week (I was working 2 jobs then). It took me some time to get into the swing of things, but in the end I lost 12 pounds and was happy.

Re: For those dieting for the 'BIG DAY'
ZOn the three day diet you lose 15 pounds per week. When i first started I thought that I would gain the weight back really fast because you lose it so fast, but I've been on the diet for 2 weeks and I've lost 24 pounds ( you put on 3-4 ) when you're off due to water retention.
Here goes...
Day 1 Breakfast 2 TBS peanut butter 1 slice of toast (white or wheat) 1/2 grapefruit 1 cup of black coffee or tea
Lunch 1 slice of toast (white or wheat) 1/2 cup tuna (with black pepper and salt only) 1 cup of black coffee or tea
Dinner 2 slices of any meat or 3 ounces 1 cup of string beans (steamed with black pepper or salt only) 1 cup of beets 1 small apple 1 cup of vanilla icecream
Day 2 Breakfast 1 boiled egg 1 slice of toast (white or wheat) 1/2 banana 1 cup of black coffee or tea
Lunch 1 cup of lowfat cottage cheese 5 saltine crackers
Dinner 2 hotdogs 1 cup of steamed broccoli (salt and pepper only) 1/2 cup of steamed carrots (salt and pepper only) 1/2 grapefruit 1/2 cup of vanilla icecream
Day 3 Breakfast 5 saltine crackers 1 slice of cheddar cheese 1 small apple 1 cup of black coffee or tea
Lunch 1 hard boiled egg (salt and pepper) 1 slice of toast (white or whole wheat
Dinner 1 cup of tune (salt and pepper only) 1 cup of beets 1 cup of steamed califlower (salt and pepper only) 1/2 cantaloupe 1/2 cup of vanilla icecream
**Drink at least 8-8oz. glasses of water per day****

I keep meaning to start eating better and I have somewhat I just haven't kicked into high gear. I'm hoping the spring will help things out too. I like running outside rather than a treadmill.

OMG, I would die on that diet. It would never ever fill me. I love WW because I just eat what I want and just count the points. I never go to bed hungry.
