For those familiar with the Massapequa area

Since I'm not from LI (Queens), I was wondering what is the closest beach to the Riviera at Massapequa. Since we are having an afternoon wedding I thought after the reception (Patken suggested it as well) that we could take some pictures at the beach even if it's just FI and I. How far is the closest beach?

Thanks

Depends on what you are looking for. If you want a ton of sand the closest beach would be Jones beach. But if you are looking for a nice ocean view, there is one just around the corner from the Riviera. Just keep on driving past the Riviera on East Shore Drive. About 1/2 mile down the road ends and there is a small park right on the water. I grew up there so if you need any other places, let me know!!

There's a small private beach in Massapequa called Florence Avenue Beach (south of Merrick Rd off Forest Ave). It's for residents of that area, but you could probably get in there to take pictures. There's not a whole lot of sand there though.

There's a small park not far from Florence Avenue Beach that overlooks the water. That's on Jefferson Place (off Forest Ave).

Yeah i was going to say Florence avenue beach is right off of Merrrick Road as well. It would probably do thi trick for nice pics. You can also go down harbor Lane (off of Merrick road) and take it to the end and there is a Park called Skylark park that may be nice. It its right on the Bay. Good luck!
