For those getting married in springy/summerish months....

Original post by NikkiR515

Are your bridesmaids dresses long or shorter? My mom seems to think that all bridesmaids dresses should be floor length whereas I kind of like the tea length look.... What do you guys think?

I wanted to do tea-length but, the girls wanted full-length, so that what we are doing.

I'm getting married in July and my girls are wearing long dresses. I like tea length dresses but one of my BM hates her calves.

Im doin full length...i think both are totally appropriate for the time...they even picked out satin dresses which could be seen as 'wintery' but i dont really mind at all..as long as they are comfy, im happy!

I am getting married in August and although I have not bought my dresses yet I am looking at floor length ones.

I have to say that the tea length dresses are very cute too!

I think that it depends what day and time the wedding is. LIke a nIght is supposed to be mroe formal and you should have a floor length but a day wedding a tea length may be more appropriate. I dont know thats what I have heard.

ha! my mom keeps insisting the same thing....im getting married in oct, but imo, the tea length dresses allow ur BMs to possibly wear them again..they're dressy enough to wear to some1 else's wedding but not toooo dressy.

We are August and are doing long dresses. We did pick a very very lightweight fabric though so it is still summery and won't be too heavy. I was never a huge fan of tea-length for myself, I always preferred long or knee-length. My friend was a bridesmaid in a wedding where the tea-length dresses were altered all different lengths which bothered me (I'm really anal).

I attached a pic of the tea-length dresses that were altered all different lengths. I'm not sure how to get around that problem but it's something you might want to keep in mind.

A lot of the girls were not local, so they each had them altered at different places. There is a lot of variation when it comes to hemming tea-length dresses, and they also fall differently on tall v. short girls. After seeing this picture I decided I absolutely wanted long dresses, but I'm sure there has to be some way of getting around this problem?

I'm going full length because our reception is a Sat. evening and I'm dressing them more for the reception than the ceremony . . . .
