For those getting married in springy/summerish months....

Are your bridesmaids dresses long or shorter? My mom seems to think that all bridesmaids dresses should be floor length whereas I kind of like the tea length look.... What do you guys think?

I'm getting married in June and going to do long, but I think short looks pretty too!

I'm getting married in May and I love the tea length also but I found a long dress that I loved more and picked out

we're in oct which can still be warm- last year first week in oct hit 88 degrees- so I thought maybe BMs might like tea-length. My sis has already said she doe sno tlike tea-length so I guess that idea is out

I also think tea-length dresses are easy to wear again

I am getting married in July, but I want to have a very formal feel - so the dresses are going to be long - I am looking for chiffon, so they are light... but I was in a wedding and we wore long satin in July and it was fine

i am doing floor length, but i had planned on doing tea length for a while. it's really just a matter of preference.

It is hard because I am such an indecisive person!!!!!

I am trying to take ALL factors into account and it is a little overwhelming... I want something the girls can wear again but I don't want the dress to look TOO informal. I really like tea length but people are making me feel like it is not fancy enough for a BM dress.....

is it a day or night wedding?

I am getting married in July, on a Friday night. I decided on floor length dresses but for the summer I think both lengths are fine. My FSIL got married in July during the day and did tea length.

who are these people? and are their opinions of utmost importance to you?? You the bride and you FH decide together the tone you would like to set for the wedding! My mom had A TON of issues with the relaxed casual atmosphere i wanted to create, but she accepted it over time and we've compromised... IMO, you should take into account the opinions of whoever is contributing to your wedding...

I am getting married in early April - im sure you can get away with either - i think it has alot to do with what effect you are going for - whether the place is more elegant and calls for floor length dresses or otherwise - i am doing floor length just because i am the first of all cousins in my family to get married and wanted something a little extra special

Well the ceremony is in the day but the reception is a Friday evening... I was told that since it is a Friday night I should go with a long dress... It is just hard because I know that no one will use a long dress again... especially in the colors I am doing! (pink and brown combo)

Our wedding is in July. I started out wanting the girls to wear tea length, no I am leaning more towards long. I guess it depends on what we find. Good luck!!

I think either would be fine... but in all honesty, I've never worn or expected to wear a BM dress again... and some of them are really pretty - I wouldn't feel like you should make that the deciding factor

I am doing an outdoor summer wedding in July and I definitely want tea length.

You are SO right! And deep down inside I know you are right... but my wedding has become nothing but a battle of opinions! Between my family and his, (much more so his though!!) people seem to think it is their own wedding they are helping to plan and not mine!

This was actually a whole seperate issue that I was going to post... I feel fh's family wants to help me UNTIL I choose something they don't like....For example...They did not want me to choose a hall on LI (they live in the Bronx) and since I did it anyway, it seems no one wants to help me anymore! I know everyone means well when they give their opinions (no matter how forceful they may come off), but it can get way too overwhelming after a while!!
I am lucky because both of our parents are helping to pay for the wedding but FH and I will ultimately pay for most of it... While I am grateful that they are helping us, I feel like I have already compromised with SO much that it is starting to become someone else's wedding and not mine!!!!! I am sorry for such a long vent but this has been bothering me SO MUCH for weeks now!!!! Does anyone else feel this way??????

Totally understand you... you have no idea what opinions have been thrown my way ... my mom pretty much had a prob with everything i wanted to do... so i think we've fought on evey issue to tell you the truth...

everyone also asked me 'why li???' b/c we are all from the bronx too... and i flat out said b/c everyone that we know has had some type of function on wedding hall row in rew ro and i dont want to be like everyone else... i think that shut most up... ive even having my officiant make a joke during the ceremony about crossing bridges to get here

sometimes fam doesnt get that its not THEIR wedding and that they have had theirs already... i tried in the nicest of ways to say that but eventually i just had enough and snapped... they just dont realize how much pressure they put on us... for ex: i won my officiant at an liw affair and i came home all excited and my mom didnt like that it was A. a woman and B. from a religion that is a bit diff from the norm... I said too bad, thats who i got, i am thrilled with this person 100% and so is FH and thats that.... she gradually accepted it, but it took a while ...

And let me tell you, i have plenty of other stories like that around...

I haven't gone dress shopping for my bridesmaids yet, but I know I'm going to do tea length. I'm getting married at the end of June. Do whatever you like, that's whats most important.
