Are you calling the parents ahead of time to let them know so they are aware and can make arrangements, or are you just mailing the invitation and letting them figure it out?
If you are calling them first, how soon before the wedding are you going to let them know?
TIA!

Re: For those not inviting children....
We just sent the invitation addressed only to them. If the kids were invited than it would have said 'The Jones Family' instead of 'Mr and Mrs Jones'.
ETA: also on our RSVP card we had a line that said ' We have reserved ___ seats in your honour' and then I hand wrote in the number of seats. That way there would be no confusion as to who the invite was meant for.

Re: For those not inviting children....
I'm letting them figure it out based upon the addressing. If it's the entire family It'll say that on the envelope.
If there is confusion, they'll be hearing from myself or FMIL or my mom

Re: For those not inviting children....
Ok, thanks!
The whole children issue has been causing a lot of tension with my family, and my mom is convinced that her sister is never going to talk to her again when she realizes we are not inviting her grandchildren. I am trying to make things as convenient as possible and thought it made sense to call the parents to let them know ahead of time so there's no suprises, but my mom doesn't want me to. I give up!

I think I'm going to write something about it being an adult only affair- we are only having two teenage 'children' there and they already know they are invited

I was thinking about doing this, but indicating adult/children seats on the RSVP. Kind of like: We have reserved _two_ Adult seats and _zero_ Children seats.
Not sure how i'm going to word it yet (deff a bit more tactfully lol)..but hopefully that will clear up any confusion my guests will have.

Re: For those not inviting children....
This is such an issue for so many people, which makes me feel better, lots of weddings that I've been to have kids and I LOVE kids don't get me wrong, but not for the 6 hours of my wedding, they can hang out with a sitter. I actually called my cousin who I'm closest with already to give her a heads up because her along with the rest of my cousins all have kids (about 10) under the age of 9 and I wanted to just let her know that we were not inviting kids so she could break it to the rest of the cousins, she TOTALLY understood and said that they would get babysitters at the hotel or have a relative come w/them to take care of the kids, which made me feel so much better to get it off my chest so early on that way HOPEFULLY when the time comes for invites we don't have to deal with it.
