Re: For those of you getting pyrotechnic centerpieces...

you've got that right! if you look at the first pic carefully, there's a fabric drape hanging from the ceiling - and it doesn't seem to be too much clearance between the fireworks and the drape! YIKES!!

Edited to add that given the right reception space, I think it's a cool idea!

Re: For those of you getting pyrotechnic centerpieces...

From what I understand - these things make a lot of noise and don't last long.

I think its a great grand entrance for a 4th of July wedding. They do seem dangerous though.

Wow, this is the first I've ever heard of this. Has anyone experienced this live before???? I would think your reception place would have to approve of this beforehand!?

Re: For those of you getting pyrotechnic centerpieces...

Wow, they seem cool, but do they make a lot of smoke? I hate when I go to concerts where they use pyro, and after all the fireworks are done, you're left in a cloud.

Re: For those of you getting pyrotechnic centerpieces...

My parents went to a wedding right after 9-11 where they used the pyrotechnics. My mom said most of the people were so freaked out by the noise that they didn't even look up.

My reception hall (Floral Terrace) offers them, but I haven't asked how much they are.

Re: For those of you getting pyrotechnic centerpieces...

I went to a wedding a few years back that had them, it was a bit surprising because I wasn't expecting these things to come shooting out of the centerpieces. I thought it was cool especially since I had never saw this before.

Yikes. Couldn't the flowers go up in flames too?

I don't know if I could deal with trying to explain out a forrest fire at my wedding!

Ok I just checked on the info packet that Floral Terrace gave me and it says that the sparklers cost $30 each.

Re: For those of you getting pyrotechnic centerpieces...

Hi! My gf had the sparklers at her wedding last month at the Sand Castle and I thought it was very pretty, but I would be careful.. I've heard some horror stories about them though, oh, and no smoke came out of them either..

Re: For those of you getting pyrotechnic centerpieces...

Yeah I agree with you. I'm kind of scared at what might happen. We haven't spoken about it yet, but I doubt we'll do it. It would costs about $400 to do it. I don't think it's worth it!

Re: For those of you getting pyrotechnic centerpieces...

Since I'm getting married on July 4th, I had a florist show me one of these. Here's how I understand it:

1)You have to use a tall centerpiece
2) You can have as many as you want, they were $45 additional per centerpiece
3) There is a pyrotechnic guy that the florist would hire to set everything up (he's more expensive on holidays)
4) The centerpieces are on a timer of some sort
5) The sparks that come out of it are no different than the ones that come out of sparklers. They are not hot and they don't hurt (I touched it myself)
6) It lasts about 30-45 seconds

In the end, I decided against it. I felt the additional $45 per centerpiece was too much to spend and the money would be better spent elsewhere. Just my opinion. It does look kind of cool though.
