For those of you living with your FI....

Was it a major adjustment moving in together...we are not moving in until we get married BUT this is a huge fear of mine that it will be a horrible adjustment

Honestly, we've been living together for about 4 months now and it's been total bliss!!! I love having him with me every night and waking up to him every morning, nothing better!! I relish every moment! You're gonna love it!!!!

Hmm... I don't think it was a *major* adjustment. It's the little things that we had to adjust to, like who showers first in the morning, etc. Do you spend a lot of nights at each other's places now? For us, I was spending a lot of time at his apartment before hand, would spend two or three nights in a row so it wasn't a huge adjustment when we moved in together.

not a major adjustment for us because we shared a house back in college. We are definetely much happier now that we live together. IMO, you won't really know someone until you lived with them.

well closet space was one. HA HA HA HA
you get to see the habits that they have. I mean yeah you sleep over they sleep over but they are still on the good behavior. LOL LOL LOL.

Its nothing to worry about we really didn't have much adjusting to do we made agreements at the begining like I do the cooking he does the dishes. Cleaning up after yourself when you get out of the shower. Jsut little things like that and things should be fine

I've been living with FH for 3 years next month, and it really is great. My FH happens to be really clean, which helps. But we cook, clean, and do the shopping together, and this works really well for us. I'd suggest trying this when you move it. You spend more time together, and get stuff done quicker.

Not a major adjustment. Minor things like a shower schedule. The only thing that is different then when you lived with your parents is now you have to also worry about cooking & cleaning. Make sure to share the chores But overall it is wonderful!

I don't live with FH per se, but when he got his apt, it was and is 'our' apt and I used to spend half the week there, but now not so much. When I was staying ther a lot, and I was involved more in household stuff there were a lot of little tiffs and power struggles. Where to put things, how often the garbage had to be taken out, laundry, etc etc. I think it was/is a big adjustment, trying to leanr to ake household decisions together, but we're making all of those decisions together now, and hopefully will be spending more time together at his place again, so it's good practice.

Well we both still live at home...sometimes I will stay over at his house on Saturday night or stay over when his parents are on vacation but its different than living together

I have been living with my FI for 5 1/2 yrs (i moved in with him after 1 month).

I have to say that I cant think of one thing that was bad. Of course we had to adjust to each other but otherwise it was ok

We've lived together for about 3.5 years - and the little things - like getting him NOT to leave the wet towels on the bed - - are the only things that stand out in my mind. We didn't have too many adjustment issues - thank god!

Yes when you are use to spending a couple of nights a week together overnight.. it's makes the adjusting a little better.

So so true.. and if you are doing it right after the wedding there might be some rough patches to get over b4 everything settles.....

We moved in together just after 6 months of dating. I was sooo worried the honeymoon stage was going to end prematurely. I'm happy to report that one year later, things are better than ever. There was little to no adjustment for us. I love coming home to him every night, I love waking up in the morning with him. You're going to love having your own place, and you're going to love living with him! Don't sweat it!!

we have been living together for over a year now (time flies) i won't lie, it was an adjustment, but i think that being together is all about constant little adjustments. it was a little hard at first for me but alot of that had to do with the fact that i moved away from allof my family and friends upstate to come out to li.

anyway, you should definitely not be worried about it being bad in any way- it isn't bad just different and as long as you are willing to compromise and be accepting of the change- and give it time to settle in- you will be fine!! (Plus your fh sounds wonderful so i am sure you have nothing to worry about)

It wasn't too much of an adjustment for us. John was spending a couple of nights a week here before we moved in together. Everything went smoothly and I didn't realize how compatible we were until he moved in. The only thing I had to grt used to was sharing my bed every night! I used to sleep in the middle of the bed SIDEWAYS! That was hard to change!

it was an adjustment for me b/c he is such a slob. But you have to realize that you pick and choose your battles and arguing about his clothes on the floor (in front of the hamper!) was just not worth it.

Re: For those of you living with your FI....

FH and I just bought a house 3 weeks ago-so far nothing major but jsut as everyone said there is a certain amount of adjustment especially when it comes to chores-ie. I got a phone call yesterday-Fh turned on washer and put laundry detergent in the space for the softner and wanted to know why the detergent was just sitting there!! But these things are cute I have to say so far he has been a huge help. I think it is just a matter of adjusting schedules and lifestyles more completely!
