For those of you whom are fatherless...

Original post by KittyGags

I lost my dad a little less than a year ago and now I find myself being asked, 'who is walking you down the aisle?' (nice right?)

Anyway, I'm thinking mom, but who is giving you away?

I'm walking 1/2 and my FH is meeting me and we will walk the rest together.

My Dad passed away 7 years ago.

I walked about 3/4 and my FH met me and we walked the rest together.

I'm having my mom walk me down the aisle. I can't decide if I want my brother to walk with us. My FH will not do a mother/son dance because he doesn't want me to feel bad.

Please ask your FH to think about this...

My Dad passed away 7 years ago.

I told my DH that I thought that he should dance with his Mom. I thought that it was important and something to look back on...and to take a picture of for our album. He danced with his Mom to a song that his Dad used to sing.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. I lost my father 8 years ago so my mother is going to walk me down the aisle and give me away. I think I am going to find a nice picture of my dad and have it blown up and I will have it on a easle or something high that will hold it up and I want to get nice big candles to put around the picture. I hope to use it at the ceremony and reception. I think it's a nice way to include my dad.

My dad had been gone 14 years (since I was 14).. I am extremely close to my mom... she walked me because she is the only one truly 'giving me away'.

I'm sorry for all of your losses. My dad is still alive but very much NOT a part of my life. My mom will be walking me down the aisle and we will be dancing together to a beautiful mother/daughter song at the reception!!

Today is actually the 20th anniversary of my dad's death... but I have 2 brothers, and they are both walking me down - a brother on each arm.

Re: For those of you whom are fatherless...

I just need to thank you girls for this post. I am having SUCH a hard time dealing with the fact that my father will not be there to walk my down the aisle. He passed away from brain cancer this past Feb. and I was such a daddy's girl. As excited as I am to plan this wedding, I'm also almost dreading it.
I know it's so unfortunate for all of us to be dealing with this, but it's helping so much to know I'm not alone.
I am having my stepdad walk my down the aisle. But I am also having a montage of pics of me and my dad at my RH and will dance with my sister bc she is the only one that knows what it's like for our dad to be gone.
I have a few more things planned to honor him on my day as well.
Sorry this post is so long.. but thanks again girls for making this ok to talk about. Any other ideas for memory on your special day??
