On your paycheck if your pay is actually listed in hours, you are considered non-exempt (eligible for OT). If not, you are exempt from OT. Just a little tidbit.

I'm sorry to be a nudge about the whole exempt/non-exempt issue.

It's just that I specialize in all of this for a living.

If it's set up that way on your paycheck, that is simply because the person doing the payroll at your company requested that it be that way. It does not actually make you exempt or nonexempt.

What you actually DO at work and how much of your time is spent doing specific activities determines whether or not you are exempt. If your company does not analyze WHAT you are doing in order to determine your exempt/nonexempt statues, then the company is not abiding regulations outlined by the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Again, I know I am being annoying about all of this.

It's just that I work SO HARD to educate business owners on this so that the employees do not get mistreated or taken advantage of. So, I feel very strongly about it all...

no problem.....i guess that's just the way my company does it and in my experience thats the way non-ex and exempt are noted - but i guess it's diff everywhere you go
