For those that brush your pets teeth???

How exactly do you it?

I brought the pet brush/toothpaste and have been trying to brush my cats teeth but I don't know if I am doing it right. I can get the front teeth but not the back.

Is there a good way to hold them? Do you get all the teeth?

My poor little boy has gingivitis and got his teeth profesionally cleaned this year but I want to keep up with them.

Chewie loves when I brush his teeth. I use a finger toothbrush w/ chicken flavored toothpaste. All I have to say is brush and he comes running.

It's funny you ask this b/c last night we brushed our kitty's teeth for the first time. The vet gave us the brush and paste (poultry flavored - yum) last month and we finally tried it. She was suprisingy ok with it, though she got a little po'd at the end. Basically DH held her from the back and I just sort of lifted her jaw and just did the best I could. I actually was having a harder time getting the front teeth. She liked the flavor so much that she was chewing on the brush when I held it in the back - I figure that's gotta be good. The vet said that even if you can only do a little at a time, that that was fine.

I started brushing our dog Casey's teeth when the vet said it would extend her life! I had no idea! So, we bought the finger brush and flavored toothpaste. She is the sweetest most agreeable dog and lets us do anything- but she keeps lapping her tongue around trying to eat the toothpaste so we have to do it really fast- she's a little piggy about food- even desparate for toothpaste!
