What lengths would you go thru to get preggo, turkey baster, cough syrup, have sex every day, buy expensive gadget, temp, chart, count, track. Just wanted to know what others are doing. On babycenter, there is a discussion going on this and I wondered what would or are you doing???
my plan right now...is just to try and if that doesn't work then to chart (which I will probably do to get a good day to try)
then after a time dicussed with my dr...I would go the medical route...
but who knows...this could all change...

Re: FOR THOSE TTC....QUESTION
Currently I do nothing, I just do the dance, I have very regular periods and hubby and I just try to do the do as often as we can. He does not believe in tracking, charting, temping, he says that these things are supposed to happen naturally. This is the look I give to him *whatever*

Re: FOR THOSE TTC....QUESTION
Shamma- charting is important so you KNOW for sure if you are ovulating. Having a regular period doesn't mean you ovulate every month. Also, many women ovulate at various times in the month. The 14 day rule is a myth, as we are all so different. It is very natural since you are not using any medicine. It is a very easy way for you to learn a lot about your body.
If Scott and I couldn't get pregnant we had decided to adopt a child from China. I would have gone to a specialist to ask for advise on getting pregnant but I really, really wanted to avoid the ups and downs of treatments. I know that they can take a huge toll of a marriage and are very, very expensive. Now, I am a very obsesive person so I don't know if I could have let go of the 'getting pregnant' stuff very easily and I know mentally I would have been drained.

Re: FOR THOSE TTC....QUESTION
I guess since hubby has a son already and I am ready when it happens and not all gung ho yet, I have not problem with just letting it happen. I don't know, maybe if I was older or had high baby fever my attitude might be different. I enjoy just doing the dance and seeing what happens. Before there was charting and such our parents and their parents just did it.

Re: FOR THOSE TTC....QUESTION
We have only been TTC for one month now but I am using an ovulation kit, just to make sure that I am ovulating.
I know already that we'll be seeing a fertility specialist in the next month or so because I was already tested that I have a hostile environment (my body kills off the sperm) but my doctor wanted us to try naturally first incase my hubby had super sperm or something lol.
I'll do whatever it takes to try to get pregnant but if it happens that I will never have my own natural children then we have already discussed adopting and I'll be going that route : ).

Re: FOR THOSE TTC....QUESTION
I will do all that I can to TTC.
I have charted (Michele is right about the importance of this - because through charting I discovered I was not ovulating). I have gone through a slew of tests ... and of couse we do the baby dance - when I am ovulating and when I am not! And hopefully with time ....

Re: FOR THOSE TTC....QUESTION
I recently bought the clearblue monitor on recommendation from my GYN. I used it this month for the first time and was shocked to find I ovulate LATE! It's not a guaranteed method, that I will get pregnant right away, however, it really worked for me, I always thought I ovulated when I am 'supposed' to.
Charting or OPK are not for everyone, even though they do determine when you ovulate. My friends have used both and 1 yr later they still weren't prego, and went to doctors.
Now my one friend is prego with TRIPLETS (no meds) and the other is 2 months along.
There could be problems you need to see a doctor for.

Re: FOR THOSE TTC....QUESTION
I know I am not disciplined enough, but I know I would never follow thru with this, I can't even remember to take these darn vitamins
I just wanted to know what others are doing or is willing to do.
I like the super sperm comment I wish everyone the best on this path.
i suggest charting. even if you aren't 100% gung ho yet on the topic. i didn't chart and got pregnant 'accidentally' because I really thought I knew when I was ovulating based on my own math. i think anybody off birth control and having an active sex life should chart or use the monitor just so you know where you are at! Turns out I ovulate much earlier than I thought...possibly even 2X a month!...I would have liked to know that....

Re: FOR THOSE TTC....QUESTION
I thought I was so regular until I started charting and after trying for 5 months and charting for about 3 months I went to my doc for my annual and it looked like i wasn't really ovulating. So now I temp, chart, use the ClearPlan Fertility Monitor, take Clomid (getting ready for my 4th round) and if this round doesn't work she'll send us to a specialist. We've been TTC for 10 months (this is our 10 cycle).
I'm prepared to try IUI and perhaps IVF but we will not do donors. If it comes to that we will look into adoption. But it will break my heart if we can't have biological children and if I can't ever experience pregnancy.
I never thought I would try all of these things until it didn't happen month after month after month. I thought by now I'd be ready to give birth soon. I think about how if we had gotten pregnant on the first try we would be having a baby in a few weeks by now!
I don't like to fool around with Mother Nature too much but when you're faced with the possibility of not being able to have children naturally you really think about those technologically advanced options that are available.

Re: FOR THOSE TTC....QUESTION
I just want to add that when you adopt I honestly believe you don't feel like you missed out on much. Our friends are so focused on their little one coming home soon. I think during the initial process you might feel that way, but the minute you get that letter or call you feel pregnant in your own special way. You are having a baby, even if you don't deliver it.

Re: FOR THOSE TTC....QUESTION
Jen,
I was previously married and was tested years ago for fertility issues so thats the answer I got. Its almost like I'm allergic to sperm and I kill it all. Good birthcontrol when i was younger lol.
Most of the time they say it can be controled by medicine but they wanted me to try naturally first with my Hubby because there is a chance that my antibodies would be 'friendly' and like his sperm. .

Re: FOR THOSE TTC....QUESTION
I already know I am anovulatory (I don't get AF without meds), and we have been trying to get preggo for some time on our own (I've been trying Provera to see if inducing AF will bring my body back to normal). No such luck.
Next month I will start Clomid. All I can say is that I hope that is my miracle because I am not sure what lengths I would go through to get preggo. I do sometimes just sit back and think it'll happen, but I know it all too well.
I also think about adoption often, even if we do have children of our own.
