For those who already had their shower.....

Did you make a speech thanking everyone? My shower is this weekend and I am so nervous about this. I know I shouldnt be because it is all my friends and family but I hate speaking in front of that many people. I already have to make sure I formally thank FH's family because they all sent the gifts to my house already but I really didnt want to make a long speech, just more of a quick thank you to those who sent the gifts to my house already. Hopefully it wont be as bad as I am making it in my head and with a few drinks I wont care

I did, I felt like I needed to. I thanked my mom for throwing the party, my FIL's, my BM's, my MOH and everyone for the generous gifts. I got so emotional that I couldn't speak lol then finally got through it. You will be fine I hate public speaking, so don't worry its all your friends and family...make it sweet and quick!

Its wierd because on one hand I feel like I have to but then I know MY family will understand if I dont because they know me. I just dont want FH's family to be upset if I dont say anything.

My shower is this weekend too and I think I will do what you said. Thank each person as I open the gift and than as I go around. My mother on the other hand will probably make me give one!

NO I wouldn't even worry about it. As long as you go around and thank everyone or thank everyone as you open you aren't required to make a speech! I am a terrible public speaker, get so nervous! So I can't see myself giving one, unless I have a few cocktails than I am sure I won't mind!

my maid of honor thank everyone and said a little something and then I thanked everyone after opening gifts. don't worry-no big deal. very quick!!

Right before eating, I stood up and thanked everyone for coming and said how wonderful it made me feel to see those who traveled to attend. After all gifts were opened I again thanked everyone for coming and walked around hugs/kisses, ect. Nothing formal just a few words from the heart

Yea you are right, I'm not sure why I am stressing it. I wasnt even thinking about it until FH said that his aunt asked him how everyone was going to know what they got me and he told her I would probably announce it. I am a terrible public speaker so I really cant see myself saying much. I will see how it goes and try not to stress it too much.
